I don't understand why some ppl don't trust Paulsen yet. He took a dumpster fire and has made it better every season since he's been here. Where is the trust? Question his rotation all you want but the guy has proven himself.

His overall record is 47 - 53 at GMU. A mere 27 - 23 at home. Our best record in the A10 is 9 - 9. Not exactly sterling numbers by any measure. His numbers have not improved every year. We were 20 - 14 two years ago and fell to 16 - 17 last year. The past 2 years in the A10 we've finished 9 - 9. We all know he inherited a mess, no one is denying that. I think many on this board were hoping to see a little more progress by now. When he was first hired I was fully on board. I am beginning to doubt whether or not he can really take us to the top of the league. I am beginning to question his recruiting. Are we really going after and getting players needed to win in the A10?

My vision for Mason is to dance 8 out of every 10 years. I don't see us heading in that direction. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic but if the unwashed trolls from vcu can go 7 years in a row why can't we? The thing that bugs me the most is losing at home on such a regular basis. Combined with Hewitt's 24 home losses I've had to leave EBA after a loss 47 times over the past 7 years. For me I guess the fatigue is cumulative.

I forgot you are that idiot that can't comprehend what a rebuild is. Last season he took a team of 8 players and the youngest in D1 to finish 5th in the conference. He also beat vcu at vcu, even Coach L can only claim doing that once or twice. He took a dumpster fire team that always played in the PIG in the A10 tournament to winning games in the tournament. Oh and we pay him like half what we paid Hewitt.

Why am I even explaining this to you. You are the coward that couldn't meet me up last season, said you would and punked out. Meet me Friday, gold room or section 114 AA seat 12.

You asked where is the trust? I just have a hard time trusting a coach who has is 47-53. He is barely above 500 at home. You mentioned DP finished fifth in the league. Please do not be so naïve. He finished 9-9, the same record as the year previous that earned Mason a 7th place finish.

I am not here saying he should get fired. I simply answered your question, where is the trust?

And for the record I understand what a rebuild is. I also understand DP botched the rebuild. ie; only 8 scholarship players in year 3.

Agree but the future is now. We need to win this season. We only have a handful of opportunities to make a splash in the OOC schedule.

Yes, we are most likely overreacting and in 3 weeks, we will be making plans to build temples and sacrifice virgins to a temple we built in his honor. But I think this is why the Penn loss was particularly disappointing. In rebuild years, experimenting with lineups is more acceptable. This year, the only things that matter are W’s and L’s

Granted if we won this game, everyone would be touting Paulsen as a genius.

But he didn't. So questioning his decisions is perfecdty reasonable. Questioning his ability to run a program overal is overeaching and premature at this point.

But let me ask you and Jim this question: What would have to happen for you guys to question Paulsen's approach? If we do not make the NCAA tourney? If we go below .500? When is your tipping points?

Honestly, just want to know. You guys follow this program as closely as I do, perhaps way more.

Just like to say that St. Bonaventure lost to Niagra in the first game last season, and Davison lost to Appalachian State (13-18 last season) AND Hawaii (15-13 last season).

I am concerned that the team held a lead throughout most of this game and broke down in the second half, very similarly to a lot of games last season, but it's not the end of the world to lose to a team that's most likely going to be a top 50 NCAA tournament team in the first game of the season.

My tipping point would be Hewitt 2.0.

I don't think Paulsen is the greatest coach ever and he makes mistakes every game (as does every player and every coach). For instance, it is reasonable to assume his rotations this past game are probably something he'd like back. Coach L had funny rotations early in the season if I recall correctly.

But, I think he is good of a coach to go along for ride without asking are "we there yet" after every up and down game.

We, including myself, are forgetting we have a slight luxury of being in a multi bid league. DP knows his conf opponents and has a good idea how things will shape up at the end. So maybe this lost, to him, isnt a big deal bc he knows we will be in top 3 or 4 teams in the league and probably in the a10 final. I dunno why I think this but in the post game presser they asked if he knew the Chinese kid was a good shooter, he said "we knew about him when he was in high school". That means he, and all the coaches know a lot about each others rosters.
