Glad we won the opener with so many supporters there, new practice gym, lights video board etc. Feels good, BUT, we got some major issues. AJ was a deer in headlights bc of nerves, or cant function vs a zone. Prob a lil of both. Gonna be tough go in conf play.
Absolutely loved the atmosphere with the new scoreboard, pre-game video, player announcements, lighting, etc. It's like a completely different arena. Always nice to get a win in the home opener.
Gonar Marr wasn't phased by playing in his first game, while Wilson and Calixte both seemed a little overwhelmed. Otis had some great moments, but great players need to close out games. He's usually a clutch FT shooter, so I have no doubt he will shake it off.
Not going to win many games when you get zero points from the bench, so hopefully the jitters are gone after the Louisville game. Onward and upward!

The whole team had the yips at the line, it seemed (other than Kier). I think they were under 50% for the game at the line.
Good win! Our boys seem to have just enough experience now to know how to close out a tight game. Go Mar is the reincarnation of Erik Herring. He was ready to play from the start and hit some really nice shots!

Otherwise, against higher quality teams we're in deep doo-doo. Maybe Mason can pull out one or two upsets, but I think the Freshmen have a lot of ground to make up. We'll see how it all shakes out.

Giving up so many offensive boards, we will hear about second chance points costing us all season. Good to see the guards in fine form for the most part. AJ Wilson seemed to be out of position on defense every possession. Need to work on that before he can get more minutes. Glad to pull out the win and the new video board and intros were sweet.

Nice win even though Mason was lucky to pull it out. Definitely a lot of improvement for mason needed on both sides of the ball. Calixte and Wilson didn’t look quite ready for d1 basketball but I suspect that will come with time. This team is going to need them to contribute something this year. This team will go as far as the experience guards will take them, but they also need help from the new guys as well. Mar looked ready to go and I can tell he’s going to be an impact player.
Keep in mind the first two years Paulsens teams started slow for a few games and improved. I’m hopeful that happens again.

It felt much different going to the game last night than in the past. I could only imagine what it’ll be like during key moments against teams who are rivals.

PiKapp Maybe a little out there politically but I've always known him to be a gentleman in all things. Had I been there last night I would have accepted the offer

I think that will improve over time - we have a lot of young players starting. Having said that -- there was more "there" there from a group of underclassman in their first game than I have seen in a while
So I am going to enjoy this.
I don't know. Until Calixte is ready to bang with the big boys inside, I think we are going to lose the rebounding battle most nights.
