But in all seriousness we are having difficulty penetrating their zone

There will be no gimmes this year. But always great to start with a win!

Agreed - but the fact they hung tough and forced the win shows they have the interior fortitude to not have something taken away from them. Good game - it’s a win in front of a good crowd with new lights. Sound system and Video board

Oh yeah baby

Some takeaways from the game.

1) Boyd and Grayer are men out on the floor.

2) We miss Jalen and Marquise's rebounding a lot, especially Marquise's ability to grab rebounds at their highest point. Kier, especially was in position several times to get a rebound and he didn't have the vertical in order to go up and get it.

3) Calixte needs A LOT of seasoning (but I liked how they used him for the little time he was in there -- had some good looks at the basket).

4) I'd be surprised if Mar wasn't on the all-A10 freshman team. Kid is ready to compete.

5) This team is either going to give up a lot of easy baskets on the inside or a lot of open 3s.

6) We're going to need our entire bench to develop in a hurry (per Chank), not just Calixte.

7) I like what I see from both our returning sophomores. Grayer, Otis, Kier, and Boyd are a really solid core group of guards. When the rest of the squad catches up, this is going to be a tough team to beat.

Not totally inept - just not trying hard enough to break the zone.

I mean, I’ll take it. We usually put up a dud on opening night. Tough to watch at times though.

Overall I’m not that worried. The first few games last year was nothing but us swinging it around the arc and we figured it out halfway through OOC.

Our two point win at home is kind of hilariously bad, but not as hilariouslybad as Richmond being down at one point by 39 points at home to Delaware or Miami scoring 12 points against "GWEB" halfway through one.

Agree again - we look better prepared in the first game than we usually have.
