Fire Dave Paulsen / Hire Tony Skinn

This might be the first time we’ve gotten to football talk during a season. We’ve officially hit a new low.

It happened last year in January I think haha.

I know some insiders think he’ll be back next year, BUT there is no way even at a school like Mason that he’ll be back next year for a final year. You can’t be in the A-10 and be competitive with a coach on an expiring contract, that said 6 years of proof will show you that you can’t be a competitive A-10 school with Dave Paulsen as your coach.

It can not and will not happen, I’m going to believe this into existence and if he’s back I’ll be back when he’s gone.

make sure you write in and explain this too. Just about everyone I know is taking this approach. Based on the vibe I got and some intel, I’d be very surprised if he is kept. But if he is, I’ll be writing in and reiterating disappointment. If he isn’t, I’ll be writing in and thanking folks.

Unless Brad’s hands are literally tied behind his back financially because of COVID, he’s making a change. He sees what we all see. There’s no way he’s extending Dave and leaving Mason on the hook for even more money to a coach who clearly hasn’t gotten it done.

As @mkaufman1 pointed out, if Mason was able to come up with $700k to buy out the last year of Hewitt’s deal, it can find $200k to get out of the last year with Dave regardless of the pandemic.

A10 Talk might have the 5 dumbest A-10 (experts) as a part of the group. When they aren't absolutely blowing Davidson or vcu they are 100% wrong about everything else. Hell our insider actually thinks a womens basketball team from Lousiville will beat the Louisville mens team. Bunch of dummies on that site

End of the day, if Mason keeps DP on a lame duck year it'll speak volumes where their commitment is to basketball. We should all jump ship and rename this forum.

I would also suggest that they should drop both basketball teams and use the budget for a football program, #masonfootball. It'd also make more sense with Edwards as our AD.

If they aren't truly committed to basketball success, I would think it would be even worse in football where it takes even more commitment. If they can't commit to basketball, they should close the entire athletic department down.

Yeah. Madison spends more than twice on football what we do on basketball and they are in the FCS.

Danny White did not "know he wanted to get his buddy from UCF". He was hired on January 21st, he interviewed/inquired with roughly a dozen coaches before ever calling Heupel about the job, which he didn't do until January 26th, and Heupel was introduced on the morning of the 27th.

This isn't me saying that the search firm was worth it for Tennessee, or that it'd be worth it for Mason, but insinuating that his plan all along was to hire Heupel is simply wrong.

On the surface, yes it does look like a complete joke, and the hire may ultimately fail, but what does this have to do with what I said?
