What can you say about a program with 9 consecutive seasons with an overall losing record? Is there any doubt that this season will be the 10th? The team is currently 0-5, including losing in straight sets 3-0 to ODU in its first ever volleyball match.

Oh, she should be fired. But I also think we should temper any expectations of what any new hire would be capable of doing with the program in the state that it is in (also looking at the A-10 championships, it looks like Dayton really just dominates. They have won 9 of the last 11 championships).

Looking at the CAA, looks like Mason had a good run in the 90s with five straight championships between '92 and '96...also had some success in the '00s with three championships...all of those teams were coached by Pat Kendrick, but it also looks like she lost the thread after 2009.

End of the day, if Mason keeps DP on a lame duck year it'll speak volumes where their commitment is to basketball. We should all jump ship and rename this forum.

I would also suggest that they should drop both basketball teams and use the budget for a football program, #masonfootball. It'd also make more sense with Edwards as our AD.

Good luck trying to find a conference as a football-only school...I guess if we dropped down to NAIA or DIII we might be able to find one?

I can see them lame ducking him bc if DP gets most everyone back on this free year deal, then recruiting isn't that important. DP then gets another chance with a bunch of 25 year olds with tons of experience probably to finish middle of the pack yet again. Brad will spin his lame duck year with the Covid excuse all the while saving 250k and finally firing DP. Or,. extending him bc he finished 5th.

1) Recruiting is always important
2) "IF" most of our major players are back is a massive IF. Can't see AJ or Javon staying.
3) A new staff (depending on who it is) doesn't mean anything is getting blown up

I agree. The sooner we know they aren't coming back, the better. Imo, It decreases the chance he will be lame ducked.

I know some insiders think he’ll be back next year, BUT there is no way even at a school like Mason that he’ll be back next year for a final year. You can’t be in the A-10 and be competitive with a coach on an expiring contract, that said 6 years of proof will show you that you can’t be a competitive A-10 school with Dave Paulsen as your coach.

It can not and will not happen, I’m going to believe this into existence and if he’s back I’ll be back when he’s gone.

My thoughts as well (it'll be great, too, in one respect in that I'll be much more productive this time next year of Paulsen is still the coach).
