gemini,

The question was whether Jalen will be able to effectively defend an agile "3" in the man-to-man.

What did you think of Jenkins' defense of USF's Corey Allen at the end of that game? Granted Corey Allen made the shot, but Jenkins certainly didn't give him a high percentage one.

Your assessment, sir? I'd say he used his length and size fairly well against a much smaller and quicker guard. He might have been a little too far off him, which gave him the space to hit the fadeaway, but under the circumstances...

The big question is with his size will he be able to fight through screens and stay with his man? But then, if we are switching on every screen that wouldn't be as much of a problem (plus you have the added bonus of having Jenkins to switch off on the opposing team's forward rather than, say, an Edwards or a Holloway).

The other question is can he defend out on the perimeter for long stretches of time without any help in a man-to-man defense.

This is really the question that I was raising. I couldn't really assess whether Jalen's defense of Allen indicated that he could effectively defend at the "3" because of where the switch occurred (and I certainly couldn't blame him for a tough shot to defend).

BTW, why do think Hewitt replaced Corey Edwards with Vaughn Gray before the game-winning shot? Wouldn't you rather have Edwards defend in that situation?

If I had to guess, in Hewitt's mind he theoretically liked Gray's length and he obviously couldn't have Okoloji out there so he went to the next best thing -- completely ignoring his players' strengths and weaknesses of course.

My wife and I will be there. If you're a season ticket holder, don't forget to print the tickets or access them on your mobile device.

I have no idea what to expect of this season. Any serious contender should win an exhibition game by at least 15 points. If it is below that margin I will be concerned, but of course...ever hopeful

$25 for an exhibition game? That is about $20 too much.

Doesn't make sense in a scrimmage against a D-III team. I imagine most D-III games are $5 or less. Maybe GMU thinks seeing a game played with a 30 second shot clock is worth $25.

I'm more concerned with how we look. Do we make smart passes, do we rebound, do we play good defense, do we dive for loose balls, etc. That being said, if we win by only 5 I'll be furious.

$25 for admission to see G Mas and a DIII squad play a game that is a scrimmage? WTF? That being said, it will be tight. Is there anyone in the know that would be able to find out if there is a single ticket walk-up sold for this "event".
