I have to disagree, the guy couldn't even draw up a inbounds play.

Luke would have ignored him the same way he ignored Coach L during the end of the Villanova game and done his own thing.

And let's keep in mind that he went 14-4 in the CAA that year being a total idiot. The FIU (which would have given us a game against VT instead of Monmouth) and FAU losses would definitely not happened if DJ and Hancock were playing. We probably beat Delaware and NU, too, and go 16-2 and avoid vcu until the finals.

This is not to give Hewitt excuses, only to say having a team that talented and experienced would have made up for a lot of his shortcoming (in fact did make up for a lot of his shortcomings that year).

All valid points, I'm on the same boat as you then.

That year we were the second best team in the CAA. We should have been 16-2 at worst. Even without Luke, we underachieved. It took until the second half of vcu game in the CAAT for Hewitt to say "gee, maybe I should play AC at point."

I'm not really arguing whether or not that was a successful season, I'm just saying talent can cover up a coach's deficiencies, and the preseason top 25 buzzworthiness of the 2011-2012 Patriots probably flew out the window when DJ got suspended 10 games and Luke Hancock transferred.

With a coach like Paulsen at the helm, that team probably overcomes those losses and at the very least finishes top 50 with a run in the NIT (like Drexel did that year).

Can you imagine what Paulsen would have done with Morrison?

No different than Ga Tech. Get enough decent players and it overcomes your lack of coaching ability.

Love Paulsen for basketball but just like Cabrera he is far left. Just track Paulsen's twitter feed. Can't we just hear about basketball and not politics?

When has he said anything regarding politics? Usually I notice these things, but I must have missed it. All I know is he is a middle aged, white, Catholic, male. Generally those people lean right.

Note: I say generally because there are always exceptions.

Calling BS on that one, too. I'm looking at his Twitter feed right now, and I don't see anything on it except George Mason, George Mason Athletics, George Mason Basketball, Basketball, Coaching, and a few pictures of his family.

Oh, and one funny post from April 8th about a gas station that offers free diet mountain dew in the waiting area during oil changes.

I still believe that with Luke, AC, and a better coach, that 2011-12 team against that schedule potentially could have been 27-4 and nationally ranked heading into the CAA tournament with an no-doubt at-large resume. But who knows, Luke's shoulder injury might have caused him to redshirt even if he didn't transfer.
