The Hewitt hangover is a nasty one.

Felt like I was watching one of the Championship Coaching series live (for any of you that coach and have gone there).

Appears to be keen on fundamentals, with a nice ball screen offense and laser focus on the individual defensive tendencies.

Paulsen is quick to correct players regardless of their tenure and status, but with the right balance of what to do to correct.

A few of the freshman look ready to contribute – Otis looks great.

I realize it was one practice and their opponents are pretty good as well – but imo Marko is due a big year. Very vocal, playing with confidence, and seemed to act the part of a senior leader well.

No clue where Mason ends up in the A10, but I will not be surprised if they end the season above most of the polls.

First time I met him and have watched him coach - nice to see a real coach in action.

Evidently, Coach Paulsen has allowed members of the media to attend regular practices. What was the unique circumstance that allowed you to attend?

Is there some big interest among the fans to attend practices? They didn't even show up for the open scrimmage.

Newsflash: People work different schedules and have other things going on in life that preclude them from attending certain events. That doesn't automatically indicate lack of interest.

You are asking why members of the media are permitted to attend practice when all practices are not open to everyone else? You seriously can't figure this one out? Perhaps because media members write articles about the team... This is done in all sports and is what the practice should be.

If you have a credential lying around, go for it.

I know a JBL rep who used to get into concerts all the time by showing his JBL credentials and saying "I'm with the band."

This is usually true, although I seriously doubt that football coaches such as Joe Paterno or George Allen ever allowed the media to attend their practices. BTW, Larranaga's practices were open to fans with just one simple rule: you had to observe quietly and not distract the players.
