UConn's attendance for home games at Gampel Pavilion this season will be limited to families of both coaches and student-athletes, per release.

Sorry read it while driving. I’m a dumb. I read it as families of the coaches, and Student athletes of the school. Like other teams can come watch. Ha been a long day.

COVID cancellations in the Atlantic 10 have put an incredible focus on Dayton (Sioux Falls), Richmond (Kentucky, WVU), Davidson (Asheville), & Saint Louis (Nebraska) to perform well early in the season.

League simply doesn't have many opportunities to move needle.

Duke will have no fans for this game. "This is done," source says. The reason the Champions Classic is not going to be in the same building is due to differing COVID-19 protocols between Big 12/SEC and ACC/Big Ten. This makes it a lot easier and doesn't threaten more messiness.

News: Duke vs. Michigan State’s Champions Classic game will be held at Cameron Indoor Stadium this year, on Dec. 1, source confirms to @CBSSports. @AdamZagoria had it first. Kansas vs. Kentucky is going to be in Indianapolis. Tip-off times not yet decided.

8-0 BYU is still looking to add games to its football schedule this year. They have only 2 games left, hosting N Alabama on 11/21 and San Diego St on 12/12.

Interesting from the NFL's Chief Medical Officer:

“We have seen zero evidence of transmission player-to-player on the field, either during games or practices, which I think is an important and powerful statement,” Sills said. “And it also confirms what other sports leagues have found around the world. We regularly communicate with World Rugby, Australian rules football, European soccer leagues. To date, no one has documented a case of player-to-player transmission in a field sporting environment.

“Obviously, I don’t think we’re at the point where we’d say it cannot occur, but none of us have seen yet, and that’s certainly encouraging.”

https://nypost.com/2020/11/14/rick-pitino-calls-on-ncaa-to-delay-college-basketball-season/

Given the spike in cases, Pitino is proposing pushing the start of the season to March, conference games only and NCAA tournament in May. If not, he proposes letting all teams in the tournament (similar to the original proposal by the ACC).

I've been saying conference games only for a long time...if you did that, though, you can't have at-large bids. Tournament needs to be 32 teams.

The Mohegan Sun event scheduled to start on Nov. 25 is already seeing the threads tear (which, frankly, everyone has been bracing for). Iona is out, Vermont is now out, and Siena is hopeful but in limbo as to whether it can be there.

https://collegehoopstoday.com/index...home-court-advantage-during-the-20-21-season/:

"10 teams that will miss a true home court advantage during the 20-21 season

Dayton: There’s a reason why the NCAA wisely chose the First Four to be held at UD Arena. Dayton’s fan base is passionate, intelligent, and it always shows up. Eliminating that type of atmosphere will be a sigh of relief for every other program in the Atlantic 10, as the rest of the conference aims to catch the Flyers on the heels of the program’s best season in school history.

Maryland: Remember when you went to a college rave? That’s what the Xfinity Center feels like when things are rocking in College Park. Mark Turgeon will miss that type of energy at home this season as he looks to keep Maryland in the mix for an NCAA Tournament bid in what could be a historical year for the Big Ten.

vcu: A home game at the Siegel Center when vcu is rolling is more life altering than a 10-day trip to Europe (full disclosure — I have never been to Europe, but plan to go soon). The Rams announced last week that they plan to start the season with up to 1,000 fans in attendance and that could inhibit a young vcu team who was picked ninth in last week’s Atlantic 10 preseason poll."

Over 90% of Division 1 college basketball programs are still up and running despite a once-in-a-century global pandemic.

CAN'T WAIT for November 25th!

Have a great Monday!
