Anything is possible, but at this point mason is controlling what they can control with how they handle Tony.

I’ll be much happier when umd hires someone else and it’s official if williard leaves.

I don't know what drives Tony. At what point do $$$ eclipse job satisfaction and vice versa? Same with the goals of winning a national championship over winning a few conference titles and NCAAT games. What are Tony's goals? What are Tony's values? Only Tony can say.

"Ronnie Thomas Announced As Head Men's Basketball Coach As Aldrich Departs For UVA"

"Hovde has been at Florida since 2022 and has also worked with current Gators head coach Todd Golden at Columbia and San Francisco. He has also been an assistant at his alma mater, Richmond.

He would be the second Florida assistant to become a head coach this spring – John Andrzejek was named as the head coach at Campbell last week."

Willard no showed on an interview on the JUNKS this morning. He's headed for NOVA..buckle up..Maryland may be coming for Skinn...
I don't believe Tony would leave after only one year. If he leaves after a few successful years, I will be disappointed for us, but I will be happy for him.
If he leaves now, well, it'll be like Rick Barnes who said "it's great to be home" and bailed after one year.

Damon Evans at Maryland is already at SMU. Maryland already has a guy they are looking to hire.

Williard has a sweet 16 to prepare for but no showing is weird.

Tony has been coach for 2 years, but to my knowledge ( and everyone I speak to), he is not going anywhere.

which is the better job?

Vilanova in the Big East with a FCS football program?
or
Maryland in the Big 10 with a FBS football program?

Or does the UMD President step in and ask Willard to stay?

Willard has called out the school/athletic administration for not being dedicated to or funding the program properly, FWIW, so that is a factor in his decision I'm sure.

I truly dont think he would have gone scorched earth IF he were leaving. Its a weird way to do it. I think he's trying to rally the donors and the NIL funds at UMD and fire them up in the midst of an NCAA tourney run.
