So even if Angel doesn’t get the GT job, is it safe to assume he’s gone right? I mean why would we retain a President that tried to leave and isn’t 100% all in for Mason.

Well he is an alumni of GT correct? Not sure if I would hold this against him.

Have to love this last paragraph in the article.

"A student group called the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YSDA) at Georgia Tech issued a statement opposing Cabrera’s nomination. The group criticized Cabrera’s leadership at George Mason, saying he was more concerned with raising money than listening to students’ concerns. The statement also decried the Board of Regents’ presidential search process, claiming students were underrepresented."

they are nuts. Cabrera is as liberal as they come. the Koch's have been enthralled with GMU for many years. While he was at GMU, he wasn't gonna turn down the Koch's money.

No President of a University should turn down sizable contributions - that would be lunacy and counter productive to the missions of the institution.

He was very good for the academics side and fundraising. He was a solid fit for the University at the time of his hire. Now were are bigger and better - we need a new solid fit.

The University/BOV has done a good job of selecting the right person for the job at the right time. Each president has taken Mason to the next level starting with George Johnson. I'm sure we'll get the right person again. This is going to be a hot opportunity for prospective candidates.

It would be a strong move on their part if they convinced at least one useful idiot to set himself on fire in protest

If I had to guess it probably has less to do with the Koch’s donations and more to do with the Kavanaugh hire.
