Looks like an impressive hire. In addition to being a great player, she also has experience as both a head coach (Howard) and assistant (UVa).

This is exactly what I was hoping Brad Edwards would do; i.e., hire a coach capable of raising the lacrosse program to compete for NCAA championships while stressing academics. IMO, this bodes well when it's time for Edwards to replace Paul Hewitt.

Raider, please stop throwing gas on the fire. There is no defense for Hewitt's record to this point, so just let things play out instead of fanning the flames. I was a fan of hiring Hewitt four years ago, but you are delusional if you think this team is going to the Sweet 16 or even the NIT. Hell, at this point, even going to the Elite 8 of the A10 Tournament would be a major accomplishment.

Brad Edwards is a very smart man, and he will make the best decision for our program regarding the head coach.

If you actually read my post, I wrote: ". . . when it's time for Edwards to replace Paul Hewitt." So, I never said anything about firing Hewitt.

Perhaps the Patriots will overachieve as you suggest, and Paul Hewitt will be hired by another school.

Don't know how much it was for, but I'm pretty sure Coach L had a similar clause in his contract when he was at Mason. We need to dig up the site that compared his contract with Hewitt's--was it the Washington Times?

If the upcoming season is as sucky as most of us expect, no reason for Edwards not to pink-slip him prior to March 1.

Not only would we save 85K that could be spent on a new coach, we could get a jump on the search process and hopefully make a hire before other schools who also are looking for replacements.
