Jacksonville certainly didn't waste any time replacing Edwards - see http://www.judolphins.com/athletics/directory/27/4287/.
George Mason Hires Former UVA All-American Jessica Morgan as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach
This is exactly what I was hoping Brad Edwards would do; i.e., hire a coach capable of raising the lacrosse program to compete for NCAA championships while stressing academics. IMO, this bodes well when it's time for Edwards to replace Paul Hewitt.
You talk about Hewitt getting fired like it's only a matter of time.
maybe he WON'T have to replace Paul Hewitt. What if we overachieve to the NIT Sweet 16? Hmmmm? Would you still fire the guy? Hmmmm?
maybe this team is going to overachieve it's gutty little hearts out DESPITE the negativity.
Jim Larranaga is not walking through that door. He LEFT US. It's time we MOVE ON FROM COACH L in more ways than one....
It's time to rally behind what we have and be optimistic instead of this damned funeral atmosphere.
Gmuraider=Paul Hewitt
Ha... I wish I had his agent who negotiated that he would get $85K for being at Mason another year.
Actually, he earns his longevity bonus of $85K by staying through March 1. Who else allows a coach to earn a longevity bonus before the end of the season?
Don't know how much it was for, but I'm pretty sure Coach L had a similar clause in his contract when he was at Mason. We need to dig up the site that compared his contract with Hewitt's--was it the Washington Times?
Looks like an impressive hire. In addition to being a great player, she also has experience as both a head coach (Howard) and assistant (UVa).
I predict that Hewitt has earned his last bonus from Mason.
If the upcoming season is as sucky as most of us expect, no reason for Edwards not to pink-slip him prior to March 1.
Not only would we save 85K that could be spent on a new coach, we could get a jump on the search process and hopefully make a hire before other schools who also are looking for replacements.
