Georgetown finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 36-21, including a mark of 13-7 against Big East Conference opponents. The Hoyas went 17-9 at home, 17-8 on the road and 2-4 in games played at a neutral site last season.
In the Big East Baseball Championship, Georgetown defeated top-seeded Connecticut, 10-9 in 10 innings and fourth-seeded Xavier, 9-6. The Hoyas fell to second-seeded St. John's twice in the tournament, 11-9 and 4-2 in an elimination game.
In their first series of the season, Georgetown dropped two-of-three at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. The Blue Hose took both games on a season-opening doubleheader, 7-6 and 6-5, on Feb. 14. The Hoyas won the finale, 5-1, on Feb. 15.
The top four hitters from last year's lineup have departed. Catcher Owen Carapellotti returns for his senior season after starting all 56 games played with a .284 average (60-for-211). He led the club in home runs (14), was second in RBI (53) and was third in hits (44) and doubles (11).
On the mound, Andrew Citron returns for his junior year after leading the team in appearances (25) and ERA (2.45). He posted a 4-0 record with two saves and struck out 36 batters over 44.0 innings of work during the 2024 season.''
