Average Home Attendance

We seem to always play a bunch of games (maybe more than we have to) while students are on break. Could we do a better job of scheduling so that doesn’t happen as often? Maybe do our MTEs over the holidays instead of at the start of the season?
Looking back, I guess that wouldn’t have helped too much this past season. Still, I think we’ve got to look in the mirror and say “just win” isn’t the solution.

Bottom line, I think there is a much larger issue of school pride at Mason that is holding us back and has little to do with basketball.

Still commuter school mentality, imo.
But it doesn't hurt to Just Win, baby!

I have a crazy concept, allow Season ticket holders 2 games a year to bring friends if they are mason alumni. Get them in the door and allow them to see the games. Hopefully they come back.

Do they go after alumni in targeted emails ?

I really don't know how they go about attracting fans or ticket sales. I think there's a lot of things they could try but at end of day I think people just have to love basketball to want to come. It's different than football where it's very much a social event.

Watching the lady’s Louisville/TCU game. The commentators stated when the new head coach !for TCU showed up last year their first game had 300 in attendance. First round of the NCAA with the students on spring break…6400.

I think our AD should carefully study what TCU did to get butts in seats…not impossible to have a men’s game in the A10 with 6k. Come on AD up your game.

Beats me, but over 50 years of that mentality is going to be hard to overcome.
I wonder what the percentage breakdown is of on campus students vs commuters is?

Two words: social event, social event, social event.

Community outreach both within the university but also to the local alumni and broader Fairfax community at-large.

Every. Single. Game.

Give me food trucks, give me vendors, give me sponsors, give me DJs, give me a pre-game atmosphere.

More like practical investment that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Like @GMUgemini says, make it an event to come see. Even if mason is hosting the blind sisters for a buy game in December on a Saturday. Plenty of ideas from food trucks to a pep rally to talking about basketball at programs.
