How do you know when those offers were extended? The only site I can find that has a timeline of offers is 247 sports and they're not generally right (for instance, for Mike Gray, all his offers were apparently on July 28, 2020. And we aren't even listed on there). Are you basing it on his Twitter feed?

I am basing it off of 2018 and 2019 when they were offered... VC has offer dates

Ah yes. That doesn’t show up on my phone. Well, we and St. Bonaventure offered within days of each other it looks like, so that should give you some comfort.

Eh- I dont know if I would say he isn't that great of a recruiter. I'd have to look though.

fairly sure Paulsen and him are almost exactly even on recruitment ratings lol... just shows how good of a coach he is

Osun wasn’t highly recruited. Welch and Winston are the two 3 stars on the roster. Winston had a crap ton of offers from A10 and P6 schools.

Also goes to show you how subjective this stuff can be. Why Osun, Obi Toppin, and Kyle Lofton were slept on in HS who knows.

You’re the one saying Schmidt doesn’t recruit well and using the recruiting services to make your point. Osun was a two star as is Rafael Castro, Markus Ilver, and Kordell Charles. Landing any one of those wouldnt have increased our overall ranking on VC and you and I know that’s total BS.

Also, on Osun, he wasn't recruited very highly out of high school. Got offers from La Salle and Lafayette and that's it, took the La Salle offer, whose coach told him to prep a year, so he did. And then he backed out of the La Salle offer after his recruiting heated up (this is all from a Syracuse.com article from 2018 talking about his recruitment).

This is all to say, Mark Schmidt is a good talent evaluator, and if he's offering someone on our roster, there's something there.

I'll believe it when I see actual results on the court during real games. Prior to that, I take it all as hype. I'm clearly hoping for the best, but we have heard this tune before.

I think that we have the depth this year to where we shouldn’t need to see too much of Frazier, and only short spells of Malik. That’s not a knock on either of them in the slightest, I just don’t think we should see 10+ mpg out of either of them with a heavy junior/senior roster. I think that Malik is going to be raw but super athletic, and I honestly don’t know what we are getting with Frazier. Everything I’ve read says that he’s a lockdown defender and while we absolutely need that, we also need him to be able to put the ball in the bucket. We saw with Mar how it looks when this team has to play 4v5 on one end of the ball, so I hope this guy is working on putting hundreds of 3s up every single day to improve his shot. I’d like to see him develop into a better shooter than Miller by next season, and yes I know that’s a lot to ask but I really don’t think we should be seeing him in a lot of games this year with Miller/Ian ahead of him.

The two questions are at the 1 and 5 spots for me (less so at the 1 because I think Hartwell was pretty good there to start the season last year, and XJ has a higher ceiling for me than Oduro does, so whoever wins the starting spot and who winds up playing the most minutes at the 1 I’m less worried about). You could see a scenario at the 5 where Henry gets more time then you might think, especially if he’s as good of a shot blocker as advertised (would love to see Henry and AJ on the court some together), but who knows.

Sleep on Oduro at your peril. From all reports he has made enormous strides since last season and his body is beginning to catch up to his skill. For a kid who is young for his class and originally was supposed to redshirt, he has been a revelation.

Hey, if he’s great he’s great. But he is still a question until proven to me.

I have high expectations for Oduro and have heard good things. I think he's going to make a big improvement and we'll all be really happy with him by the time his Mason days are up.
