@sleeperpick why are you harassing Brad about corporate partnerships on Twitter lol.
just a question that came up with @mkaufman1 in conversation... also I stand by that Darrell Green does absolutely nothing and I am not sure exactly why Brad's alma mater thinks he can run an SEC school successfully either.

Also a little pissed at BE about why a 5 figure donator can't get a simple email back about state of the basketball program that we all love so dear. So my donation will be cut in more than half this year. pulling a @gmubrian but in a much smaller sense

Well corporate partnerships flow through Learfield IMG. Pretty sure their agreement with Mason is a rev share, as opposed to a guarantee. If it is a rev share, Mason has an increased incentive to help them out. I actually don’t view Mason as an easy sell.

that is actually great information that I appreciate. what is Darrell Green's purpose then? assisting Learfield IMG in obtaining them? we leave all corporate sponsorships up to the 3rd party to obtain? I think I read a statistic that over 1/5th of our graduates go on to work in some facets for contractors (Booz, BAE, Lockheed, etc) or in that realm yet we can't bring any of those billion dollar corporations into the fold for sponsorships? I mean I play in a Booz softball league that they poor thousands of dollars in spring, summer and fall but they won't donate to Mason? They have millions of dollars in donation money per year.

No idea what Green’s official role is. It seems like he’s a community ambassador of sorts.

Learfield handles the corporate partnerships for roughly 200 schools across the country, vcu, jmu, ur, va tech included. The dynamic between the local LIMG staff and the school varies, but for the most part the LIMG staff has an open dialogue with those at Mason Athletics who oversee external relations/sponsorship.

Those billion dollar corps you mentioned have probably found other, more direct ways to reach Mason students and alumni.

"From a contingency standpoint, 'we feel like we need to keep everything on the table,' McGlade said. 'If for some reason, if campuses didn’t have any on-campus classes for the entire fall semester, which would prevent our athletes from being back and actually participating in a competitive season -- exactly what happened to the spring sports right now -- then we’re looking at, is it even feasible to have the fall sports compete in a spring season?'"

“I wish the people, particularly alumni, would come back. Let’s fill our arena. You can say, ‘Bring me a winner, then we’ll come.’ But come and help bring us a winner. That’s my message to the alumni.”

Lol spoken like a true Redskins player. Because that mindset is gonna certainly put butts in seats. I hope the new president asks some hard questions about what exactly it is he does to draw that 100k paycheck every year.

Don't hold your breath. That said the Mets owner once said "fill seats and we'll spend too". That always made me laugh. It is a two way street. Show commitment we show up, win and we show up.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...nsas-lowering-basketball-season-ticket-prices:

"Kansas is lowering prices for season tickets at Allen Fieldhouse for next season for the first time in more than a decade in an attempt to help Jayhawks basketball fans who are feeling a financial pinch from the coronavirus pandemic.

The school announced Tuesday that it will expand the number of pricing tiers from three to eight, including four levels that will be lower than they were last season. The new structure will drop the cost of tickets almost 45% for those who had tickets last year and it will create a level of tickets at $500 for the upcoming season.

Kansas has sold out 306 consecutive games dating to the 2001-02 season. Ticket prices have remained steady or climbed since the 2008-09 season, when the Jayhawks were coming off their most recent national championship.

Jayhawks coach Bill Self said that 'it is unfortunate to see how this pandemic has hit so many, so hard, but hopefully the addition of tiers and lower ticket prices will allow our fans to enjoy Kansas basketball together again soon.'''

Anybody else receive an email from Brian Banks today with the subject “Uncertain Times”? It was an extremely generic message about how Covid has affected Mason, and it asked me to donate to the Athletics emergency fund. In the email, he said “tuff times” instead of “tough times”

A game at Patriot Center would easily qualify as "social distancing". G Mas should be able to educate all colleges as they are experts.

......I hate that faux-homespun tone organizations sometimes take when they're trying to make you feel connected.

It's the same as politicians using the word "folks" instead of "people" when they're trying to imply they have a popular mandate for something.

I know why they do it, but it INSTANTLY sets off my BS meter, and means they won't be getting anything from me.

It's more that the email wasn't well written at all. It did come from a gmu.edu address so I don't think it's fake. To your point, i'm over that "tough times" message. You don't have to tell me what I already know.

Here's the body of the email:

"I hope that you and your family are safe, during these tuff times, everyone is going through extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 we at George Mason too have felt the consequences both personally and professionally and will be fundraising to help the emergency fund and if you have the capacity to give we could use the support from our donors and will be reaching out with our personal cell phones

Thank you for all that you do, and for helping George Mason University survive in these tuff times!

Please Stay Safe and Strong……..GO Mason!!!"

Yikes. That’s one very long run on sentence.
