Why does EBA get a cut of the auxiliary service fee? That place makes enough.
I would assume it's a pretty small cut of that money. My guess is for non profit-generating events like Mason Madness, orientation, etc. I think just opening the place up and turning the lights on is a chunk of change.

For another trip down memory lane, see http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/26/AR2006042601583.html:

"George Mason administrators have also explored initiatives to capitalize on the team's success, several of which were planned before this year's breakthrough. O'Connor said the school is carrying out an aggressive fundraising and naming rights campaign for a $5 million to $6 million practice facility that will include a practice court, locker rooms, a weight room, an academic center, offices and a reception area. The school hopes to install a video scoreboard by the 2007-08 season, and is in preliminary talks to expand its radio and television exposure."

Execute everyone who signed this. Put their heads on pikes as a warning.

As a Mason student, I hate the current student culture we have. Kids are worried about intramurals and complain about lack of football, but can't handle a basic practice facility being built?

These idiots would probably march if we ever got rid of some intramural fields to build a proper stadium lol

Progress requires sacrifice.

"A two-phase approach will provide a very useful interim solution for our teams while the full facility is under construction. Phase 1 will include improvements to the existing upstairs gym at the RAC (the “Cage Gym”). Phase 1 will include new hardwood courts, six basketball goals, new lighting, painting, graphics, and team branding. It will also include renovations to certain other parts of the RAC to accommodate recreational needs, given the loss of student access to the Cage Gym. The cost of Phase 1 is estimated at $1 million.

I laughed at the first comment where someone can't spell the word "field", and saying the basketball team had one good year.

So, 2006 was a fluke, right? We really didn't play in Indianapolis, right?

For those with kids, don't they teach basic research skills in elementary school anymore?

I love the passion of both sides of this issue. The AD needs to be proactive in explaining how the planned renovations to certain other parts of the RAC will sufficiently accommodate the students' needs, given the loss of access to the Cage Gym.

No he doesn't.

The petition had 90 signatures last I checked this morning. At a university with 33,000 students, they are literally a drop of spit in the Atlantic Ocean.

Well, I will respectfully disagree with you on this. As I have posted before, you shouldn't have to search the internet as I have to know what's going on with the proposed basketball practice facility and the other planned renovations to the RAC.
