GIVING DAY 2023
It is hard to predict these things, but, if House settlement/Revenue share goes through, the numbers this year may be significantly higher than last year. I don't know if they are going to jump as much at the top level, but at the A10 level, I expect them to skyrocket.
Yes, the A-10 and Big East don’t have to share revenue with football, but the sheer size of SEC football revenue makes that irrelevant. Even if SEC schools allocate just 5% of their total athletic revenue to basketball, that could still outpace the entire A-10’s budget.

For example, Alabama’s football program alone made $140 million in 2024. If just 5% of that ($7 million) went to basketball, that’s already a bigger budget than most A-10 programs can dream of. And that doesn’t even include the SEC’s massive media deals, donor contributions, and NCAA tournament payouts.

The idea that basketball-only leagues have an inherent financial advantage is misleading. In reality, SEC and Big Ten programs have the luxury of football money, and even a small slice of that can dwarf what mid-major basketball programs can offer.

The House settlement caps revenue sharing way below 140 million (I think it’s 20.5 million). Now they can allocate that 20.5 million max however they want but most projected plans have 70-80% of it going to football, which leaves much smaller slice for men’s basketball (around 15% or so, or about a max of 3-4 million). This is why that 3 million target was announced during our last BOV meeting.

Now there might be some schools, like Duke, that allocate more money to basketball but I don’t think that’ll be the norm for the P4.

The Big East is probably going to be the top dog in college basketball going forward if that cap holds.

There’s no way these donors are seeing a return on their investment. Sooner or later, they’ll realize these outrageous NIL deals aren’t sustainable and stop paying.
2 or 3 years ago Georgetown gave the Kansas State transfer $400k, and he averaged under 4 points/game. If I was the donor I'd ask for my money back.

I didn’t know about the cap. Nice!

Gemini already addressed the issues with the top part of your post regarding spending caps, so I'll address the "luxury" of football money. Football is not the money maker everyone thinks it is. While it does bring in big revenue, it also costs an awful lot. Look at my posts earlier this season regarding how at least 4 of the Big 10 athletic departments are having financial problems. MD was one that was mentioned. The recent comments by Willard seem to back that up.

note that all of these players are from mid-Major Conferences and lower
all will get picked up by someone and get an NIL Raise
but i don't expect all of them to be starters or stars at their next school
