Players on student Visa's can't work in the US. The workaround for NIL deals is that they can work when they are NOT in the US so up until the House settlement, it wasn't a huge limitation on NIL deals. Under house settlement there will be an NIL clearing house to evaluate the deals. I expect there to be a lawsuit after the first one is rejected...They can’t do any work while in the U.S.
I know Okojie staged a Q&A from home during I think Thanksgiving? (Correct me if I’m wrong Brian) to get around that.
I have no idea how revenue sharing will impact foreign players, if at all. Maybe they’ll allow players to come over on a P1-A visa instead of a student one so they can collect money, but that’s Homeland Security. I doubt they’ll care too much about if Gonzaga can pay their starting center from Australia or not.

It is my understanding that the revenue share related to students on a visa is murky and up for interpretation. I have been told they will not be able to participate at Mason (at least as of about 2 weeks ago), so Mason's current interpretation is that they cannot. I would assume that in those situations, NIL deals will be the focus.
You mentioned it here…’waiting to see if a 18-22 year old gets a million dollar (or whatever the amount is) offer or not.’ Since the house settlement is not yet final the only place it could come from is NIL. This got munged with the Stas comment and here we are …I'm really not sure where my comment went off the rails into NIL, but, again, I never mentioned NIL. I just said I would hate to see Stas leave and it doesn't matter to me if Gio does.
Nothing to see here, everyone move along.
Okee doke. I can see that. I think. Interesting point. Based on last year's thread, it looks like some waited to announce going into the portal as well as selecting their new teams. It's also interesting to see the opinions folks on the boards had on various players. For your reading pleasure so you don't have to do the search:is it a good sign that we have only had 3 transfers out this week?
He's got hops!!!!Good scorer -- good player -- evidently not much of a 3-point threat based on his numbers last year (23%)
He'll never be happy anywhere.BIG surprise there.
Can’t wait to hear what his “list” isKeyshawn Hall into the portal now.
