Use the last four games to work on fundamentals (especially offensive) and gain crucial momentum.

Note: Each time Mason entered a game this season with a prior week off the offense struggled to regain its effectiveness. Momentum and consistency is what Mason needs to build going into the A10 T—go in RED HOT. Don't begin the tournament out of basketball shape. As it stands, Mason will be playing their quarterfinal game a day short of a week upon the conclusion of the regular season. Keep the offense as warm and ready as one can.
I think they gota get maddox going in game 1. Then ride him to championship game. Some guys like woody will have to step up. O'Connor has been a no show for going on 2-3 weeks now. Get Begg lot of minutes in quarter final hopefully. Save KD's legs going to need him in semi and final. They will not win if O'Connor is bringing the ball up the court. KD is going to have to bring that DOG in him to the tournament. Best hope is St Joes/Dayton or Bonnies can knock off vcu. 2 actually provides a much easier path to the finals. GW then Loyola or St Louis. If someone can knock off vcu chances of winning in DC get much much higher.

2% chance my God, that's pretty depressing

The point is the system is so broken that 4 regular season games basically do not matter. Left the caa to avoid this. It’s very weird where it’s unlikely that even if they win 6 in a row and lose a rematch to vcu they get in. The one and only focus should be the 3 games in DC.

They had a great season regardless what happens last 4. It’s hard to Motivate them knowing that they had a great season that’s likely going to come down to 3 games. It’s just an absurd way of life as a mid major. You have to be damn near perfect.
the point being that resting these guys is bad. We do not play well after a week off, resting these dudes will have the same if not worse effect. Build momentum, esp on offense, and roll into the A10 tourney on a f**king tear and rip teams faces off.

If that's the approach great, then up KD's minutes to around 30 minutes a game and get him ready to go for 3 games. Going to need about 90 minutes out of him. Still not convinced Maddox is 100%, maybe he is though.

I agree. KD should be starting Pg. he’s better creatively and better defensively. I think Maddox is between the ears not physical

Yeah it's possible, I just know he got Hurt in the JMU game and has just sorta seemed off.
Put the pipe down homie. Maddox had some good to great games after JMU. He just needs a better offensive set to get him cleaner looks. He works way to hard to get the shots he currently gets. Hopefully, Tony is saving new offenseive plays for the A10 tourney.

Maddox was suppose to have graduated in the fall. In that recent interview he mentioned how much of a grind it is as a 5th year player and was dealing with the senior reality of figuring out what comes after college. Given that Tony keeps saying it's a mental thing, I think it safe to say that's likely what's going on here. I love a good conspiracy, but this ain't it.

Win out, make it to the A-10 finals at a minimum, and hope some other teams crap the bed along the way. Worst case we are a solid lock for the NIT, which I would not be upset about. It's about continually building for the future and getting to a real post season (NCAA/NIT) tourney makes us a great destination for the next crop of transfers.

One of my good friends said the nit has become watered down since we last played in it in 2009 and that recruits only care about the ncaa. Thoughts?

It’s a joke! You likely will have 13th - 15th sec. It’s 10 auto bids from the worst power 5 schools. It’s all about giving money to them.

My thought: Give me the NIT all day, every day...if we don't make the NCAA.
Of course, since it doesn't matter if we go 1-3 or 4-0....
What changes if they go 4-0 vs 1-3? Do you increase your donation? Does anyone? If you do then great. That’s a reason but it won’t change the effects of the actual season or if they play in NCAA tournament.

Considering the 14 years in the wilderness and irrelevance, I'm going to celebrate the accomplishments of the program this year. If that includes an invitation to the NIT, so be it.

The NIT is not where any of us want the program to be, we all want to dance. But I would certainly take top 4, NIT, and a Saturday appearance as many steps in the right direction.

Lunardi currently has Mason "Next 4 out"

Barking Crow and Draft Kings have Mason as an NIT 2nd and 3rd seed respectively.

Seeded teams are usually on the the bubble..just outside looking in..Mason is in the conversation!!

The difference is between vcu and Mason is the rams are decisively beating opponents and Mason's just getting by. You wanna move the NET needle..start beating the dregs of the league(fordham,Richmond, Lasalle) by 10 points or more...blowouts are part of the kenpom and net equations...bottom line better offense

Also..look at the NIT...there's a bunch of solid power conference and high performing mid majors listed.

UNC, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, UCF, Georgetown, Oregon State and more are all potential opponents in the NIT..that sure as h$ll beats Mason OOC schedule this year..you dont think Mason fans would be storming the court for beating Ohio state, Georgetown or say Texas??!! You gotta be kidding me!! Most of us here would need "Depends"...from peeing in our pants with excitement..
