“We have problems” is quite extreme.

If we don’t land Cornish it probably has more to do with us landing Maddox, and potentially Hall, and nothing to do with us as a program.
We have 5 open spots right now. But if we do get Hall, I wont care as much. But I dont see why we cant get them all with the number of open spots in our roster.

Um because they are human beings that have control over their own decisions, decisions that are made based on a million different possible factors?

But yea, the day after we snagged a highly coveted starter from VT, we have problems if another 20 year old goes to another school with comparable (if not more) "success" over the last several years.

I mean I don’t disagree I’d love to have them all, but we’re also thinking about this from a fan perspective.

Cornish sees a couple other wings commit (who are day 1 starters) and he might start thinking differently.

Still think we have a good shot regardless though.

Also GCU is a Christian school. Faith values could play a part. I know it does with some (many?) kids who go to Liberty.

Seriously - the 3 guys we signed have a combined 100 career starts, in addition to substantial experience as non-starters.

Agree with you on that. Also, GCU does a great job of creating a fun environment for their games. They sell out nearly all of their games and are a well coached team. Bryce Drew didn't have much success at Vanderbilt but he is a quality coach...not better than CTS but is still a great coach.

What if he wants guaranteed playing time that we aren't able to promise? Would we still have problems?
If Tony is serious about pressing full-court as our base defense and running on offense, there will be plenty of playing time to go around. Even at their elite level of conditioning, you need a legit 10-deep rotation to keep legs fresh.

My question would be whether a starting spot is a deal-breaker for Cornish because it’s looking like those are all either spoken for or close to it.

I guess I think we shouldnt be competing with WAC teams that are primarily an online school, but I guess GCU is working very hard to push itself away from that stigma and towards a legit university.

I don't blame him for taking visits and seeing what's out there. I still think he lands here.

Interesting point: I read an interview from when he committed to Maryland, and he said that after he transferred high schools (from Dulaney in Baltimore to Legacy Early College HS in South Carolina) he never thought he would go back to the DMV for college. Staying in the area wasn't important, but he couldn't turn down Maryland. I bring this up because the "close to home" angle may not matter to him.
