Wouldn't you say he is similar in size to Otis Livingston or a Tremaine Price?
Last I looked, he was listed at the same height and weight as Jamal Hartwell. Doesn't mean he will be playing his first (or last) college game at that size. But fair point that not all small guards take a long adjustment period.

GIVING DAY 2023
Wichita St transfer guard Craig Porter Jr is returning to Wichita thanks to an NIL deal.

“The change of heart for Porter is directly tied to the arrival of Armchair Strategies, which has worked quickly to put together a package for him to profit on his name, image and likeness. Armchair Strategies told The Eagle that Porter will receive a car, in a sponsorship with local insurance firm Aegis Group, a signing bonus and additional NIL money-making opportunities with local businesses such as the Wichita Sports Forum.”

This is the bizarro world in which we live now. Hope Mason is ready because there is crazy money being thrown around for kids who have almost no name recognition/marketing value to the general public.

I'm assuming same thing happened with Yuri at Slu. Problem for me is this more pay for play than it is NIL. NIL should be something the student athlete scores on his own. Not packaged for them by guys in the shadows. Most of these have zero ROI. Will be interesting how ncaa handles it in the future.

Pay for play has always been a thing. It's just public now. NIL is just a fancy way of describing it.

Guess you are right. We will see this niche market do its thing. It's just gonna push the top p5's into their own league. Hmmmmm...what if all the non p5 schools bucked the trend and kicked the p5's out?? Would there be 70k people in a football stadium to watch a FF? No but so what.

The difference is it used to be only the high-end recruits who got real money. Now a guy who averaged 7 ppg was convinced to stay at his current school because of an NIL deal … it’s bonkers

It is. But the larger schools could afford that risk when it was "underground" (NCAA would never give the death penalty to Texas, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, etc).

Now the little schools can do it with no repercussions.

End of the day: Boosters are now consortiums who just write more direct checks. :)
Based on the Mason boosters performance on giving, we ain't looking good. Kentucky is gonna get 1k from each booster. 20k boosters plus. If they raise 26 million each scholarship player would get 2 million A YEAR. Retire at 21?? But the big money is in the ivy league. Wait til those nerds commit to NIL deals instead of following their moral compass. Get ready to see hedge funds named after recruits/players.

I still don’t get how anyone has a great time on a visit to BYU, but per his Twitter, Rudi says he did. Even posted photos in uniform.

Unless I missed it, he didn’t post anything about his Mason visit.

Would love to be wrong, but feeling very much not good about this one.

Re: Rudi - I would imagine that similar to the relationships we all have... sometimes it clicks, sometimes it just doesn't. It looks like it didn't click for him on our visit, and if that's true - so be it.

More and more I've been feeling like KE and staff are taking their shots at some great talent - but also waiting to see how the portal shakes out with deadlines approaching. Our coaches haven't faltered yet - so I will be patient and trust that they will find the PG that will best fit this team.

They have loads of that good church money. That campus is beautiful. All the social restrictions? Maybe he doesn’t realize what that will be like, maybe he doesn’t care, maybe athletes get a wink wink from admin, I don’t know.

Just literally can’t imagine having a choice of colleges and choosing to attend a religious school. Maybe that says more about me than I’d care to admit lol

Is he still visiting SDSU? Because that's the one that worries me. Can't beat that weather.

Yep Davies got kicked off the team for HAVING SEX in violation of the school’s honor code.

If nobody has pointed this out to Rudi we’re doing it all wrong
