The two questions I would have:

1) Why is Keeshawn looking to transfer? He's getting plenty of minutes. My guess would be to play at a bigger name school - if so, we got little to no shot. Just curious since playing minutes or a move up in competition are normally the two reasons to transfer.

One of the bigger questions for the Colorado men’s basketball program this offseason—“How does a logjam atop the guard rotation shake itself out?”— has received some clarity.

With freshmen guards KJ Simpson and Julian Hammond III coming on strong down the stretch for the Buffaloes, their future in the backcourt looks promising. Colorado won seven of its final eight regular season games and then beat Oregon in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament. Over the team’s final five games, Hammond replaced Keeshawn Barhelemy in the starting five and Simpson took over as the primary option off the bench while Barthelemy’s minutes shrank.

For the first time this season, the Buffaloes’ starting lineup did not include Barthelemy when CU hosted No. 2 Arizona on Saturday. Instead of allowing the setback to sour his motivation, Barthelemy instead turned in a huge effort off the bench as CU defeated a No. 2-ranked team — tying the highest-ranked squad ever to lose to the Buffs — for the second time in program history.

Barthelemy was informed earlier on Saturday that after starting the season’s first 28 games, freshman Julian Hammond III would get the starting nod at point guard against the Wildcats. Barthelemy ended up playing 4 minutes, 24 seconds more than Hammond anyway, and the contributions from both players in the shuffled roles proved critical in the Buffs’ upset.

“When I heard the news, honestly, I’m a competitor and I was frustrated a little bit,” Barthelemy said. “My mindset was, I can do one of two things. I can either pout and not be there for my teammates. Or I could use it as fuel and be there for my teammates and play hard and do whatever I’ve got to do to help the team win. I feel like I did the second option.

I'm not seeing the shrinking minutes so much though. 27, 17, 26, 22, 24, 23, 28, 25, 24, 31 in the last 10 games. Doesn't seem that far off from the season average of 25.8.

I guess I have two thoughts on that.

1. Minutes aren't guaranteed. If Jabari Smith, Paolo Banchero, and Chet Holmgren all suddenly decide they want to play another year in college and do it at George Mason - Take 'em All. Even if that means Josh doesn't see the court again until Senior night. Recruit the best players you can at every position and let them compete for the minutes.

2. I've got Zero issues w/two guys capable of handling the ball being on the court together. I watched a lot of UT games this year and having Vescovi and Chandler together was a good thing. As was Vescovi, Chandler and Zeigler, all three of whom have started at the 1 for Tennessee.
Absolutely spot on. Nobody is guaranteed minutes. Best players play.

I just looked at the minutes and didn't see a big drop off, but I didn't see he lost his starting spot. Interesting. Makes more sense now.

I was going to chime in but you guys basically had the answer posted already. Keshawn played a lot at Colorado but it looks like he lost some minutes later in the season. There was an article that mentioned he lost his starting job.

In addition, I’d be fine if they bring in a guy like that to supplement Dinkins If he’s as good or better than what you’d get out of a 4th or 5th (or even 6th) year guy. You could always have the best guy play approach or “thunder and lightning” approach at point guard. Fine by me. The more we make positions strengths with depth, the better off the program is.

I really like Cam Spencer from Loyola, he’s crafty with the ball and can really shoot it, but it’s easy to imagine a guy like Barthelmy having a significant impact in the A-10.

Add to it that Nate coached him before coming to Mason and it’s certainly interesting.

It's all speculation at this point until we see him linked to us somewhere, but I really like his low turnover ratio. He doesn't have a ton of assists, but I'm ok with that if he's not turning the ball over. I also like that he attacks the rim - something we really needed last year.

Hopefully D'Shawn can get in his ear and help us out.

What time did Keeshawn enter the portal? I ask because Bailey entered the portal and within 24 hours had committed to Mason. Im disappointed Nate hasn't signed Keeshawn yet.

(this is call sarcasm. I'm not as eloquent as Jollay is with it, but I felt the need to clarify so I'm not thought of as a troll. Plus, I don't have time to come on here every 20 minutes to look for actual news, which is why I need Nate to get this done ASAP)

Must have got a girl in Rhode Island pregnant. If we didn’t offer I’d be very disappointed though
Unless my info is wrong the staff did communicate with Walker, no idea if it rose to the level of an offer though. Hopefully they have somebody they like better for the 4 spot and get that spot locked down.

Our problem this year is we frequently had two guards on the floor who couldn't shoot or dribble the ball. No problem with playing two PGs at the same, as long as they are threats to score. Maybe KE sees Barthelemy as more of a SG, and plans to play Bailey more at SF?

Likely all boils down to Nate's relationship. If Barthelemy is interested than it's likely the end of Polite's time at Mason, no?

Anyone know which schools Barthelemy is considering?

I haven't seen any sort of list yet for him. We are all just speculating at this point. We don't even know if we are interested... it could be Nate wasn't a fan of his.

Hopefully we'll know something more concrete soon.

I honestly can’t comment on much on here but I can tell you pretty much anyone that has a previous link to the staff in some way shape or form is most likely on the table. I know that’s super generic and if you want to call me an asshole, fine.

But that’s basically what I can say in general. Names continue to be fluid especially as more connected guys hit the portal.
