Former 3 star 6 foot 11 Gak from Florida has transferred to Cal Baptist. Cal Baptist has that pedigree to land P5 big men transfers. This kid could be horrible, but he would still be a body at our weakest position.

I don't want transfers down. I want transfers up.

Where are guys like James Karnik (Lehigh), Jeff Otchere (Stony Brook), Robert Allen (Samford), Cory Hightower (Presbyterian), etc. going to sign?

Not here. But those are the ones we should be interested in, not some banged up, washed up P5 transfers.

Jock Landale (best big man for St Mary's) has GT'd to UC Riverside. I understand we cannot offer beautiful sunny California but to say GT big men don't go to schools of our equivalence or below is just false at this point. Landale would be a top 5 big in A10 next year easily.....

Lol it's Jock Perry, not Jock Landale. Landale is already a pro overseas. Perry averaged 7 minutes per game last year and scored 49 whole points all season.

Lots of things to be mad at Dave about but this ain't it.

Yeah can we get back to being mad at him for being too mean and strict and RIGID? For F’s sake, expecting players to show up to team functions ON TIME. The nerve of that guy.

question for @Pablo or @gmujim92 or @Petey Buckets what is the restriction on walk on roster spots? We generally have between 2-3 each year. I was going on a roster search inside our conference and Dayton has 5 walk ons. I looked quickly but could not find a rule. Is there a max walk on restriction per team? I always 3 was the max but apparently not

Never knew there was a limit.

NCAA does not enforce roster size at the Division I level, though there is a limit of 13 scholarship players per school at once, with no limit on the number of walk-ons.

The service academies (Army, Navy and Air Force) typically roster 20+ players each year.

Yeah I would think the limits are practical - those are kids you have to feed, dress, transport, etc. Also they're all theoretical mini-liabilities in the sense that they can still get the program in trouble with the NCAA (though the chances of that happening are near zero).

Only time this was ever an issue I can recall was when Pitino convinced two players (I think) to give up their schollies and pay their own way so Louisville could have a roster of 15 quality D1 players. Nothing illegal about it, but there was much consternation and gnashing of teeth.
