why are Dayton and Davidson leaps and bounds better than we are in all facets?!? McKillop a stalwart so tell me about Dayton

Dayton has hosted the NCAA play-in game for something like 30 years and has a huge arena and massive fan base. They average like 12,000 fans a game and spend a ton on their program. They also recently had Archie Miller and an elite 8.

Now Duquesne and what Dambrot is doing is an enigma.

So what do you guys think is the main reason we consistently get out-recruited by vcu despite the fact they have had several coaching changes -- is it because more kids want to play at a school in an urban environment rather than suburban setting; is it due to vcu's longer track record of success on the court; is it because of their more active student fan base; something else????

I like the get and think we need players like Kolek who can shoot and create some, but when you look at our Sophomores, Freshmen, and the two verbals, that's a lot of guards. I'm down for the position-less era as much as the next guy, but Oduro is the only true big in the group. Are Miller and Dady big/physical enough to guard power forwards?

Pretty safe to say we need another big with the last scholarship.

Assuming Paulsen must have some plan to utilize all these "guards" but you'd have to think he's again setting up himself up for a guys wanting to transfer out if things don't go perfect with rotations.

I like Kolek, I assume his signing shows DP is attempting to address our struggles with shooting. That said

Not only do we need bigs but we need some bigger looking players all together. It's been mentioned before but seeing Mason warm up at the beginning of games and comparing our roster to our opponent, it always looks like men versus boys.

I agree with you, but Mason has Calixte for two more seasons. I think it’s safe to assume a transfer or two after this season, which will open more scholarships.

As I mentioned, I'm not looking at the Sr or Jr classes... just looking at what our roster will look like a few years down the road.

We got burned a few years ago on roster management when we were thin at the bigs and then Relvao bailed on us before the season... don't want to see us in that situation again.

For the Debbie Downer post of the day with Polite, Kolek, and Henry did we beat out any higher rated schools for them?
I’m looking at all their lists and it basically looks like if they wanted to play in a conference like the A-10 they were coming here.
I read the article about Kolek wanting to push himself and play in a competitive conference but then looking at his top 5 I would say that if he had other A-10 offers they weren’t strong offers(St.Bonnies, Richmond).

I am looking forward to them all in Green and Gold hopefully they can help move this team forward.

I actually think Polite and Kolek could be good for us in a couple years but I have no clue about Henry. I like his size and from what I have seen it looks like he has some post moves but he is going to need to put on at least 20-30 pounds if we want him to play down low. I think Mason will be fun to watch as we could run a fast pace style but I am just not sure if that will translate into victories. What I don't like about the way DP is building the team is that it seems like he is still recruiting to compete against Patriot league teams. I hope I am wrong..

Henry has over a year to gain 20-30 pounds. Oduro was listed at 185 going into his senior season and he's listed at 237 on the Mason roster. I'd be surprised if Henry came in here at under 215.
