Who knows what is going on. Hopefully he gets right mentally or physically. Maybe both. Really hope this IS basketball related. Maybe the young guns have taken his mins. That’s the best case scenario

I think this might be it. It’s a pretty packed roster this year, it was going to be tough for him to find minutes at the 2.

I know it's early but if we continue down the path of 16.5 turnovers per game, 20.5% shooting from 3, and being out rebounded by 5 per game it will be a long winter in Fairfax.

He missed the potential game-winning shot, but Davidson's got a player in redshirt freshman Sam Mennenga. 6-foot-9 New Zealand native, had 17 points and five boards, hit two 3-pointers. Had 12 and nine in the opener last week too.

Watched the game. Davidson just executed well despite coming up short.

No one looked lost or in a panic...everyone moved, passed, rebounded and acted like they wanted the ball.

That's my issue with all I have seen from DP. ..nothing is crisp, nothing looks planned, nothing looks organized.

McKillop is what we thought we were getting with Dave, dude always squeezes every ounce out of his players. Real Xs and Os type of coach who makes up for his lack of great recruiting by having a system and finding guys who will work in it. Watch him over the years, for better or worse he has a system that he gets his players to fit into, rather than consistently reinventing his game plan year in year out.

In addition, Davidson has a unique culture for D-I. Their scholarships players rarely leave before completing their eligibility. And, on the rare occasion when a player transfers out, the reason is likely unrelated to basketball.

100% agree with this, I too thought we were getting a good X and O's guy with DP. After watching the train wreck of pick up ball that was the Hewitt regime, I had high hopes that we would see good offensive sets, crisp movement and good 3 point shooting under DP. I was willing to trade scheme and discipline for a dip in recruiting, Not only have we not seen those things from DP, but I'm hard pressed to see much of any improvement offensively from the Hewitt days.

If you don't recruit well, and you have these coaching deficiencies, this is what you get. The first 3 games for me, was just a reminder that DP can't get it done here at Mason. I will say that the program is in a better place now than it was at the end of the Hewitt days, so lets pull off this band-aid and move on.

nobody can tell me that Davidson has a better roster than we do. Grady's scoring has declined all 3 years of playing and their number 2 switches each game (Lee or Brajovick or Mennenga). We have what should be a potent 1,2,3 punch and even Oduro offensively is more than adequate. They are one of the few A10 teams that look less athletic and smaller than us. But, with McKillop they almost beat Texas. Not sure why Shaka didn't pound them inside because that is where Davidson is extremely weak, but maybe McKillop took that away all game. If Davidson is better than us this year we have a serious problem. We are "the deepest and most athletic team" Paulsen has ever coached.
