Yes, the only two reasons why I think they might: one, they’re in the same predicament as everyone else and will want to limit their travel and, two, it’s not like they have to worry about us ever stealing a local recruit who might chose Georgetown

I think you mean about us ever stealing a recruit period.

nothing surprising there. This year obviously has been that much tougher.

doesn’t the a10 still has a minimum standard all teams have to meet in terms of scheduling? I guess it’s being followed?

I don’t think it’s ever been enforced, see Fordham last year.

Yea if Fordham last three years and ours last year didn’t break the rule then their is now rule

I'm pretty sure if you're going to suck as bad as Fordham does the A-10 doesn't care how you schedule.

I mean, Fordham's SOS last year was 161 overall and they had an NET of 244 (9-23 record). In 2019, their SOS was 282 and their NET was 243 (11-20 record). A difference of two wins. So I mean, if you just lose all your games I don't think it really matters what your SOS is.

(note: this is overall SOS, not just OOC SOS).

By the way, Mason's OOC SOS was almost 100 positions better than Fordham's has been the last few years. So, yeah, 252nd is bad, but it's not 350th.

If I'm going to nitpick our schedule, I would have taken out games against Longwood, Long Island, and Jacksonville State and put in stronger mid-majors from the Missouri Valley, MAC, CUSA, or even CAA (Charleston would had been a better game than Jacksonville State, for instance; Louisiana Tech, Bowling Green, Kent State, Missouri State -- somebody).

Jay Wright tells me that Villanova and Virginia are still planning to play this season at Madison Square Garden. Date is TBD. Also said that Villanova plans to play its annual Big 5 games against Temple, St. Joe's, and La Salle.

See how helpful a Big 5 is for scheduling, Georgetown and UMD!?

I think the Patriot League is 50/50. That said, Army and Navy will definitely play assuming they can cobble together a schedule if the other Patriot League schools do not play.

Begs the question, does this mean the Patriot League is going to play or are they going to let Army and Navy play games without the rest of the conference?
Service academy’s are exempt if the conference decides to not play.

Sources: Rhode Island will play stand alone games at Mohegan Sun against both Stephen F. Austin and Towson in addition to competing in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off. Rams will play four games in five days to start the 20-21 season.

The main purpose of playing in an this season MTE at this point is being allowed to play 1-2 extra games. There's no way we're actually getting better opponents out of it. But it's still 1-2 extra games.

Source: The Division 1 Basketball Committee has voted in favor of maximum scheduling flexibility for this season. Teams can play in two MTEs and two teams from the same conference can play in the same MTE.

Waiting now on final approval from D-1 Council.
