Duquesne loses Brandon Wade and Gavin Bizeau (both pretty garbage)... immediately signs Evan Buckley out of Stone Bridge... any of you NOVA ballers have any comments on the 5C player of the year? I saw he was offered by UVM and Towson

Interesting choice on Buckley’s part considering he’ll be behind Carry and Dunn-Martin. Minutes will be hard to come by unless he starts playing two PGs after losing Williams.

horrible defender per their message boards and reduced role this year... he was a particularly strong passer for a big man

Mobley always was going to be a terrible fit for Rhoades’ system. Surprised he stuck around after Wade bolted and wasted half his eligibility at vcu — he could have decommitted with no penalty and gone somewhere else.

I've read vcu boards before... majority of their fans don't know shit about basketball lol. Maybe poor against big men 1 on 1. But I thought he was really good at the vcu style double team pressure at the top of the key. Definitly gave Otis problems plenty of times against his length. Moved pretty quick for 6' 8''. Definitely a role player for sure which is fine because they have plenty of scorers. But if he sucked so much he wouldn't have started 23 games. Sure he's replaceable, but him leaving is definitely a loss for vcu IMO.

Counter point is didn't Reuter start 23 games?!? He sucked too and we lost a lot... vcu was much better than us.. can afford to start an above average passer that couldn't play defense at the 4

Neither of the teams that played Monday needed one and they seemed to do OK.
Agree to disagree. Maybe our definition of what qualifies as a “back to the basket” big is slightly different.

I’d love to run UVA’s “blocker-mover” offense, using two big men to primarily screen off-ball and pin their men deep into the post.

Edit: I’m going to contradict myself a little bit here and also say that we shouldn’t focus on the national stage. Mason needs to do what works at Mason and in the A-10. Sometimes you have to zig when others zag. Since I’ve been a fan, our most successful teams (in the CAA, albeit) played through two dominant post-players (Lewis/Thomas, Pearson/Morrison). That’s the identity I know as a Mason fan. I’d embrace that identity again if Paulsen can get those type of players to Mason.

That would be too creative.
