"Fayetteville State (NC) and Coker College both NCAA D2 schools have also offered scholarships according to Washington. James Madison recently came in last week to watch Braswell." He must be really good.

UMass also sent a coach to Braswell’s school to evaluate him. You do realize UMass is in our conference, right?

Jason Douglas-Stanley is going off as a senior. Had 36 in season opener, averaging 32 ppg in Mount Vernon’s first 3 games.

Kid is an unbelievable shooter. Sure glad he signed early.

I though I heard DP say somewhere recently to us fans regarding, D-S and Miller, "You're really gonna like these guys!"

Obviously I'm not a scout, but he looks like he has all the tools to be very good. Since I'm not a scout I don't know how to determine if he is playing quality opponents. if you know anything about high school basketball could you give me some insight because I'm clueless.

Basically 32 points sounds awesome, but is it fools gold?

Mount Vernon is in one of the best high school basketball leagues in the country. Sherrod Wright played for Mount Vernon. Greg Calixte played for Mount Vernon. Greg Calixte's teammate, Noah Morgan, is currently a freshman at Fairleigh Dickinson and is averaging 9.2 ppg (including 10 against Seton Hall and 7 against Penn State) and shooting 47% from 3.

Braswell also picked up an offer from Oklahoma State. I'm betting Oklahoma State won't be the last P-5 school to offer either. You know "kizer permanente" (DJ3 likes his own post under his alias), maybe the coaching staff knows how to scout better than your evaluation via looking at the kid's competing offers at the time Mason watches the kid.

It sure has been quiet on the 2018 recruiting front lately... Not that there's ever a ton going on, but I am surprised that no visits or offers have been publicized recently.

How many slots do we have left after Jason Douglas-Stanley and Jordan Miller signed?

I'm guessing (and this is a guess), that over December and into January things get pretty quiet. I don't think they really bring recruits to most non conference matchups. They may have had some visitors otherwise, but without someone tweeting about it, as you could imagine its pretty hard to find out. I suspect things will pick up as spring signing day comes closer, and especially with conference play since it seems like a lot of teams get visitors during that.

I'm hoping we hear about some potential recruits coming especially for rivalry games against vcu and GW.

Also campuses are dead during the winter break. Pretty sure most visits happen when students return. Just a guess though.

Would it be a huge gamble if DP does not sign a 2018 big? Reuter, Greg and AJ down low??? Is that enough?

Probably one more just in case of injury or suspension. Well perhaps 2 for possible transfers.

Reuter and Greg at the 5, Go and AJ at the 4. Mix and match as you please. We have all four (hopefully) for the next two years.

IMHO, a far more pressing need is a grad transfer whose primary skill is perimeter shooting.

Douglas-Stanley is a great shooter, but I’d rather not pin the hopes of Otis and Jaire’s senior season on a true freshman coming in and shooting 40% from 3.

We also need to find a PG to bring in and serve a 1-year apprenticeship under Otis. If we wait til the 2019 class, we’ll be counting on Kier and Greene to handle PG duties after Otis graduates and I’m not sure that plays to either of their strengths.

I agree, we need a PG. I doubt we are going to bring in a JUCO PG to start in 2020.

I'm not a fan of holding out hope for a grad transfer for 2020 either. Not that the player isnt going to be good enough, its just that they arent on the roster until the summer and thats a risky way of trying to fill the most important position on the court....especially when we don't have another PG on the roster.

At a min, I'm ok if we get a transfer PG that has to sit out next year. However, that doesnt really help Otis next season as he'd still have to log a ton of minutes.
