Retweeted by AJ Wilson, found on his twitter page -- retweet from July 9:

Former Montrose Christian F AJ Wilson playing w/ DC Premier 2017s for more HM interest while also mulling George Mason 2016 offer.

So basically we are his safety school, f this kid . Go sit on the bench at a BCS school like Ahmad Gilbert.

He hasn't given us any indication he's coming. He's well within his right to take a prep year and see where it takes him. Maybe he ends up P5, maybe he ends up injuring his ACL and never playing college ball. It's his call to make though. Can't be mad at him.

In an interview, he said he just feels like he's been overlooked because his school had an off season and didn't perform well.

We may be his 'safety school', but there's nothing wrong with a kid having options.

Gilbert (Minn) and CJ Jackson (Ohio State) decommitted because Hewitt was fired -- not because they didn't have P5 offers or were overlooked by other programs. Totally different scenarios.

is AJ's commitment imminent? Looks like his AAU days are over.

GIVING DAY 2023
If AJ signs and nobody transfers, we'll have 1 scholarship left for the 2017 class.

That probably would go to a PG to play behind Otis; it remains to be seen if Kier can play the point or if he'll be part of the logjam at SG.

Regardless, it would also leave us with a young, athletic, versatile roster in 2017-18:

C -- Relvao (R-So.), Dixon (Jr.)
PF -- Temara (So.), Wilson (So.)
SF -- Abram (Jr.), Mar (Fr.)
SG -- Grayer (Jr.), Murrell (Jr.), Boyd (So.), Newman (So.)
PG -- Livingston (Jr.), Kier (So.)

Good luck to the staff figuring out playing time with 200 minutes and those 12 guys on the same team.

That is a very high class problem.

DP had a similarly deep team at Bucknell his last years at Bucknell and he did not hesitate to play 10 guys in his rotation.

If not Mason then, Quinnipiac and Mew Mexico State are on the table too.

If AJ commits, then Geo Baker would most likely be the remaining 2017 PG commit. Rutgers and Mason are supposedly the two schools going after him the hardest.

Geo committing would really help O out with Marquise leaving after this season. DeVante Cross would have been a 2016 commit as a PG, but then UVA football offered.

I didn't mean to suggest it was a problem, necessarily, just that it's difficult to imagine how it's all gonna unfold because half of those guys have yet to play a minute of college BB.

Even if DP is able to carve out meaningful playing time for 10 guys -- and I have no doubt he can -- that means 2-3 others will be little more than spectators.

Then take into account that the overall talent level of the roster is being raised significantly in a short period of time.

Given the transfer situation in D-I hoops these days, I'd say it's highly unlikely that all 10 of our current underclassmen are still around for the start of the 2017-18 season.

Regardless, it will be fascinating to watch it all shake out.

I'm assuming we're gonna have at least one additional 2017 scholarship become available through attrition.

If we could somehow land Jamir Moultrie and Geo Baker to go with the guys we already have, we'd be set at the guard spots for 3-4 years.

Ryan Allen from DeMatha is another kid I really like, although not sure if he's a PG or an undersized SG.

Anyhow, all those kids are 2017s. Sorry to thread jack the 2016 class.

Well, this is allowed now: #NCAA Proposal 2015-48 goes into effect at midnight (August 1st); permits coaches to endorse (like, favorite) and republish (retweet, repost) prospects.
