2016 Recruiting

I'm guessing his high school conference isn't very good in Northern NY and he hasn't really done much in the AAU circuit with the Albany City Rocks in 2015 which would make sense why he was over looked. Looks like a late bloomer. He looks like an absolute beast in all his videos.

He wasn't overlooked at all. Going into the summer after his junior year, when he was on the EYBL circuit, a bunch of schools basically gave up on him because they didn't think he'd qualify and would have to go JUCO like his brother.

He is the caliber of player who ordinarily would end up at a Big East school.

Gonna be a very, very good player for us. A steal. Literally.

Are there still concerns about him qualifying?

Another late 2016 offer went out this week to Aleem Ford, a 6-7 SF from IMG Academy in Florida.

He's supposed to be visiting Hofstra and Richmond apparently wants him very badly.

Don't know much about him, other than he'd be our fourth IMG kid in the last 2 recruiting classes if he signs.

I think we need him badly, looking at our roaster we have only 1 person capable of playing the 3, Abram.

I agree with you, we need a guy who can extend the defense, shoot from outside, and handle some of the bigger guard types.

Grayer started at the 3 most of last season and did very well for a true freshman, IMHO.

I'll be surprised if he isn't starting at the 3 -- with Otis and Marquise in the backcourt -- next season, as well.

It will be interesting to see how DP deploys our young guards going forward, though. Grayer, Boyd, Newman and Kier are all 6-3/6-4 and can play the 2 or 3.

Lots of options. Should be fun.

Recruiting is more cut throat than I thought.

Begs the question....did we really want Bruno or was he always a back up plan? Some on the boards seemed to hint that we told him to wait and would not take his commitment right away. I trust that the staff has a plan.

I don't know, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be like the Shane Larkin situation.

The staff can add to 13. They know that we already have back-to-back large classes; it won't be the worst thing to hold one scholarship for the 2017 class, so there's no need to reach for someone if they're not completely sure he can play on this level.

I don't blame Bruno for signing somewhere else, either. You don't want to be the one without a chair when the music stops.

Hope he does well in the MAC.

I'm kind of thinking and/or hoping he was insurance for Tamara. I have no inside information what-so-ever, but what if we got good news that Tamara will be eligible now that signing day is getting closer. Maybe we cut the ropes with Bruno and told him to sign elsewhere?

Imo, that would be messed up. If you offer a kid, you cant turn into an indian giver when he accepts.

The offer is never final until the school says so.

I am 100 percent certain that DP and staff were up front all the way with Bruno about the conditional status of his offer.

None of those guys strike me as the type to d!ck over some kid.

Ultimately not everyone gets to play in the A-10. Our staff's first responsibility is to do right by the program and the university.
