I hope we all agree that Gregg Marshall made the right decision to stay at WSU. He is getting paid $3.3M to stay at a place he built. Plus, apparently he and the Texas AD had some issues so Texas was not an option for him. I would not want to coach basketball at Alabama.

I don't think vcu has access to Koch money so they will not be able to pay Shaka too much more. But he is compensated well and he built vcu into what it is now. I could see him staying.

With BillyD re-upping, does Shaka continue to stick around knowing that the Florida job isn't going to open up anytime soon?

Still cannot help to think he's just using Texas for leverage. Guess we'll find out if he gets on that plane.

I posted the same question on Twitter.

Guess it depends on whether Billy's new deal is worth the paper it's printed on, or whether he still intends to listen if somebody comes to him with even more money than Florida is paying.

Knowing that Shaka and Billy are close, I'd imagine Shaka has a pretty good idea of whether Billy plans to stay at Florida long term.

Are Shaka and Billy close? Shaka was an assistant at Florida for only one year. Now Grant was with BD for a long time.

While I appreciate that he stayed, I think Antoine Carr, Xavier McDaniel and Mark Turgeon amongst others would disagree that Marshall built WSU's program. There was a history of success before him, just not as consistent as what Marshall has pieced together.

Donovan recently agreed to a one-year contract extension to stay with the Gators through the 2020 season, according to multiple media reports, but the contract contains a buyout for a mere $500,000 if an NBA opportunity arises.

The extension is not regarded as an impediment to Donovan's pursuit of NBA jobs if he wishes.

OK, I'm now officially laughing my a** off at this whole #ShakaWatch thing -- mostly because the vcu board is melting down before our eyes.

Whether he ultimately leaves or not, their sheer desperation to keep him is delicious.

Despite all their success, they still live in RIchmond. A true dump.

Despite all their success, they still live in RIchmond. A true dump.

The city is improving by leaps and bounds, and is quickly becoming a haven for young professionals who enjoy the urban lifestyle. vcu has also helped by purchasing and demolishing many, many blighted properties.

I just enjoy poking fun at the fans' insecurity and desperation. Despite all their success, they're still the nerdy kid who couldn't get laid with a fistful of 20s on the Vegas strip.

I moved down here from Fairfax about 2 years ago. Grew up my whole life in Fairfax and always considered Richmond a dump especially after spending time down here for many CAA tournaments. I can say it's a lot better than it used to be, there's more stuff to do and lots of great new restaurants. The city seems to have turned around with lots of young professionals moving here due to the DC area being so expensive to live/start a family in. I have lots of friends that come down from DC with that same thoughts of Richmond and after a weekend they don't feel the same. One says it reminds him of an east coast Portland.

All that said vcu has bought a good chunk of the buildings downtown and I still hate their fanbase. Love the city which I never thought I'd say, Hate vcu which will never change.

The new Stone brewery will be nice. But it's still Richmond. And it's not Austin, which is exponentially better.

vcu coach Shaka Smart has an 8 pm team meeting scheduled, sources told ESPN.

Seriously, who would call a meeting with their team to tell them they are staying? That would make him a complete douche. If he's staying, why not just send a group text hours ago to the team saying, "Ignore the noise. I'm not going anywhere!"?
