It's not that young. We will probably have 3 freshman rotation players and then 3 seniors and 2 juniors, which isn't too bad. (Next season is a whole other story).

The big question is how fast can the upperclassman get up to speed and is there an Isaiah Jackson types guard among the freshman (remember how many people questioned his ability to be a D1 player before the beginning of last season).

It's actually 4 seniors -- Shevon, PH, Marko and Royal -- plus JJ and Marquise as juniors.

Livingston, Grayer and Murrell all will play significant minutes as freshmen, which is hardly unprecedented.

I'm fairly comfortable that those 9 guys can win the games I forecast against a very weak schedule.

I think masonjoe meant to save his post for next season, when we'll likely have the youngest team in the country (non-Kentucky division).

But our backcourt and wing players are Moore, Holloway, four true freshmen, and a walk on...

Yeah, but fortunately most of the teams on our OOC schedule are fairly terrible.

Other than the Charleston tournament, JMU is probably our second-toughest OOC game. Let that sink in for a moment.

Freshmen or not, we should be able to beat most of these teams. We have a damn good coach and I think he's going to have our guys ready.

5 games lost by 4 points or less or in OT last season. Offense turned it over 14 times a game. Shot just .426 from the field.

Just change 2 of those 3 things and we win close to 15 games this season, if not more.

Add in some other factors (i.e. don't be 256th in the country in FT%) and just by scoring 3 more points a game and giving up 3 less a game can make a world of difference.

Does anyone think Holloway is going to lead the team in shot attempts this season? He did last year despite playing 4 less games than Shevon.

I'll also venture a guess than the true freshman Murrell will shot a higher FG% than the senior Gray did last year. I also think Livingston's numbers will be better than Edwards from last season. Just those two things could win a game or two.

11 of our 22 losses were by double digits last season. I don't think we'll see that loss total or losing that many by double digits this year. We are going to be in games. We wont win all the close ones, but I don't think we'll be getting blown out by 20 against St Bonnie or someone else like them this year.

And not to keep harping on the schedule -- even in the "2015-16 schedule" thread -- but there is really very little comparison between this season's and last season's

There are three series that carried over: UNI, Manhattan and Wright State. None are expected to be particularly outstanding this season

Otherwise:

Replace Cornell with Colgate
Replace Princeton with Penn
Replace ODU with JMU
Replace Iona with Towson

Then throw in Wagner and Longwood, which are both teams we should beat 99 times out of 100

The only real gimme game last season was Catawba

I'm relieved he didn't, but this is probably the schedule Hewitt should've put together in an attempt to save his job

I'm hopeful of something close to a .500 overall record (slightly over OOC, slightly under in conference) as a barometer for my hopeful outcome of the season, largely based on the lack of world beaters on our OOC schedule. I think the league may be a little more top heavy this year than usual, with probably 4 top teams, then everyone else.

I'm certainly aware of the significant potential for a worse record though.

I suspect there won't be a single player on the roster who has a "green light" to just shoot the ball the way Holloway did last year.

Oh, hell no. Gold Rush is back. We are green dammit! No yellow unis this year so there should not be anymore gold rush.

On a positive note, it is good to be complaining about the small stuff again.

Could be worse, we could have Gray Rush. Probably could promote it with Be Gay, Wear Gray!
