I am of the belief that we shouldn't do anything for the 10th anniversary because it will make us look like we are trying to squeeze the last drop from a cow that went dry a long time ago.
For me, 2006 was great but when people start talking about it like it was ancient history, it's time to move on. Outside of us hardcore fans, George Mason is just a blip now in basketball history.
Pablo: You didn't answer my larger point. Does it or doesn't it make us look like we are living in the past if we honor 06 every 5-10 years?

This is going to sound harsher than I intended, but who really gives a flying F about where we stand in basketball history?
The 2006 season was far more than a blip in our program's history. It's about damn time that somebody in a position of authority understands the significance of that singular event and stops trying to treat it like some stroke of dumb Cinderella luck.
I'm not saying we need to keep hammering people over the head with "2006" references, but we shouldn't be afraid to take pride in the accomplishment. It's already been proven that we can be enormously successful on the national stage -- now the prez and AD need to take steps to get us heading back in that direction.
I think Mason should continue to honor the 2006 team. As much as its living on the past, it was an incredible time in our basketball program (and school's history) and should be celebrated at proper anniversaries (5-10 years etc). With that being said, other aspects should be celebrated as appropriate (honor the first NCAA team, honor the best players, etc), and hopefully Edwards realizes that these aspects are important to the program.
Now back to wondering what that final game will be for this upcoming season...
The bigger travesty is still George Evans. Not just what he means to Mason, but if you take a few moments to through wikipedia, you will find he is like 5-7 players ALL TIME ( I just skimmed but it was low) to win a Conference POY 3 times. And not even in smaller conferences do you see many 2x winners.
His accomplishment was outstanding nationally and historically and it is just sad to see him NOT acknowledged by the University.
I believe we understand that the problem is the George Mason Athletics Hall of Fame, specifically the Carlos Yates issue. Perhaps, with a new AD, it's time for fans like us to insist that the AD take appropriate action.
So bringing it back on topic...what game on the schedule would be the best to honor those guys? Would we get a bigger crowd for a game to "honor" the "starting 5"? If the AD is going to start honoring players, why not do 5 all at once to break the ice? Or is that too many?

Hmmm... that's one of those hypotheticals. TOC was presiding over the athletic operations that led to that FF team. Hypothetically, how can you say Stevens would have made the decisions that TOC made?If we had Brad iN 2006 wed be the shit. Instead, we somewhat a name.
I would guess homecoming whatever game that turns out to be. Otherwise vcu (we play vcu at home this year right?) or ODU makes the most sense.
