Mason currently is accepting bids for it's TV production of men's basketball. Here is part of the contract - bids are due next week:
BACKGROUND: The MASON Men’s Basketball Program reached new heights in 2006 as it reached the NCAA Final Four after having beaten traditional powerhouses Michigan State, North Carolina and Connecticut. In 2013, Mason joined the Atlantic 10 Conference, the nation’s premier basketball centric league, which earned 6 bids to the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Mason’s home court is the 10,000-seat Patriot Center that offers of an exciting game-day atmosphere and features one of the nation’s best pep bands – Doc Nix and the Green Machine. The Patriot Center was ranked the No. 1 top grossing university venue in 2012 by Venues Today for arenas with a capacity of 10,001-15,000. In 2013, Billboard Magazine ranked it No. 6 nationwide and No. 17 worldwide for top grossing venues in its category
V. STATEMENT OF NEEDS: ICA seeks a strategic partnership with a regional television partner to produce, distribute and broadcast (television) home basketball games; exclusive of games that are controlled by the Atlantic 10 Conference (A10) and/or its current or future partners (i.e., ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Group).
A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, etc., necessary to provide television broadcast of MASON’s home basketball games including the following:
1. Have the expertise to produce live college basketball games, and to distribute and broadcast the games in high definition in the Washington DMA, including Fairfax County and on a regional basis.
2. Have the market power to provide powerful cross-promotional benefits.
3. Have the willingness and desire to work cooperatively with ICA’s other business partners, including but not limited to, its advertising and marketing agencies and its website company.
4. Provide a feed to MASON for distribution on the A10 Digital Network.
5. Adhere to A10 graphics package requirements.
