Curious as to what kind of turnout there was for this at the Johnson Center? Anybody go to see it or happen by while it was going on?

I don't know a thing about wrestling, but the JC does look like a cool venue with people watching from the library/study area.

"Logan Messer won all five matches en route to winning the 174-pound weight class. The senior had three technical falls and a major decision.

Two wrestlers Kaden Cassidy and Evan Maag finished as runners-up with 4-1 performances. Cassidy secured a technical fall then won three straight decisions to make the finals. He had a big win over a 2x NCAA Qualifier.

Maag finished second after three pins and a technical fall. In the finals, he was up by 11 points on the #5 wrestler in the country, late in the third period and got pinned in a crazy scramble.

Malachi DuVall finished fourth at 184 pounds. He won by technical fall twice before dropping a highly contested match to a top five wrestler in the country. In his third-place match, he was forced to default after an injury early in the match.

JB Dragovich and Thomas Stofka posted a 5-1 record at 125 and 157 pounds, respectively. Both made the podium but to a match limit rule, neither were able to compete in the 5th place bout.

James Blackman posted a 4-2 record and finished in 6th place at 285 pounds."

In addition to the team receiving votes in recent polls (7-0, 5-0 vs D1), we now have 4 ranked wrestlers, with two more likely knocking on the door of the top 33 (intermat/flowrestling):

149 - Kaden Cassidy - #26/NR (believe this is his first time getting ranked)
157 - DJ McGee - #24/#28
165 - Evan Maag - #24/#25
184 - Malachi DuVall - #27/NR

Logan Messer at 174 (12-3 on the year, appears to be knocking off rust after injured last year), and Freshman Heavyweight James Blackman (10-4), are very close to being ranked in top 33.

So far team has had duals against lesser teams and been in 2nd tier tournaments, their main tournament (Midlands) will be on 12/29 and 12/30, and then they have some of their tougher conference matches against Lock Haven and Rider in the new year.
