"Senior Kara Wright enjoyed quite the week in leading the George Mason women's basketball team to a pair of wins.
On Monday, she was rewarded for her strong play and was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The fifth-year senior from Louisville, Ky., averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of road wins.
On Wednesday, the 5-foot-11 guard/forward drove in the lane and made the game-winning layup with 3.5 seconds left to lift the Patriots to a 55-54 victory at Detroit Mercy. She finished with 15 points and also had three steals and four rebounds.
Then, in the Atlantic 10 opener at Massachusetts on Sunday, Wright notched her second career double-double with a game-high 22 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds to lead the Patriots to a 66-55 victory. She was clutch down the stretch, making 9-of-10 free throws in the final 2:52 of the game to help the Patriots pull away. She finished 12 for 13 at the foul line, setting a career high in made free throws. She also dished out four assists and made two 3-pointers."
