"DALLAS, Texas – Trailing late in Dallas, junior Camarie Gatling made the game-winning layup to lift the George Mason women's basketball team past SMU, 59-58, on New Year's Eve.

With under three minutes remaining in the contest, Mason overcame an eight-point deficit to ring in 2020 with a victory. Junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary accounted for seven of Mason's nine points in the final two minutes of play. Gatling then made the go-ahead layup with 13 seconds remaining as the Patriots' defense held strong as time expired.

Playing in her home state of Texas, Cardaño-Hillary ignited for a game-high 25 points and team-high eight rebounds and five assists.

Senior Jacy Bolton surpassed 1,000 career points to become just the 20th player in program history to achieve that mark. She finished with eight points, five rebounds and two assists."

"FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason women's basketball junior guard Nicole Cardaño-Hillary was named the College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday.

Cardaño-Hillary averaged 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Patriots including their conference-opening win against George Washington.

The Madrid, Spain native scored a game-high 25 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 59-58 win over SMU on Dec. 31 in Dallas, Texas. She shot 42.9 percent (3-7) from the three-point range and 36.0 percent (9-25) from the floor. She added seven straight points in the final two minutes of play to help Mason overcome an eight-point, fourth-quarter deficit.

She scored 18 points while adding eight rebounds and three assists in Mason's 70-60 win vs. George Washington. She shot 50.0 percent (4-8) from behind the arc and 40.0 percent (6-15) from the field."

Watched the St. Joe's game...pretty clear why they lose so many games -- just bad defense and not enough players. Cardano-Hillary gets worn out at the end of games having to do all the heavy lifting and hardly getting rested (wound up missing two easy layups and 3 of 4 FTs to close out the game). Should have cruised at the end of this one, instead came close to giving up the lead.

"PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Mason women's basketball team bounced back with a 54-49 victory over Saint Joseph's on Saturday inside Hagan Arena.

Mason earned its first conference road win of the season, improving to 3-11 in Atlantic 10 play and 9-18 overall. With the victory, head coach Nyla Milleson earned her 200th Division I win. She's now five wins away from 100 victories at Mason.

The Patriots tied their season-high in three-point field goal percentage, finishing with a 57.1 percent (8-14) mark. Junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary matched her season high in three-point field goals, going 4-of-7 from deep (.571)."
