These are federal charges. The feds have loosened up on state regulated medical and recreational cannabis, but they seem to drop the hammer on black market trafficking still. And since its still a schedule I controlled substance it has the same penalties as any other drug. Weed = heroine in their eyes. Hopefully that changes soon.

They should not - their accomplishments are not erased by other deeds. They made mistakes and paid for them. But they shouldn't have the good stuff they have done erased.
