Former Mason 2nd baseman and assistant coach Dayton Moore, currently GM of the KC Royals, has been granted permission to interview for the GM position with the Braves. Moore started out as a Braves scouted and made it all the way up to Assistant GM with them before taking the GM job in KC.

Former Mason catcher and assistant coach JJ Picollo, who is currently the assistant GM in KC, would be in position to move up to the GM spot.

That would give Mason two GM spots in MLB. not sure if any other college would be able to claim that. certainly not any mid-major baseball program could make such a claim.

Former GMU infielder Lonnie Goldberg is in the KC front office as well as the Director of Scouting. He'd probably get the Asst. GM gig if JJ moves up when Dayton moves on back to the Braves.
