If only Vaughn Gray had remaining eligibility. Greatest player in Mason, possibly college basketball, history never to play meaningful minutes per “Mason” fan. He could turn the season around.

He has a nice stroke. He will either save the season or get ruined by the Dew Boy.
I’m genuinely curious on this line of thinking now. Let’s say he’s gonna play — where do his minutes come from? Miller, Javon, and AJ are all in slots he could feasibly play (4 is a giant stretch but whatever I’ll give it to you). So who’s minutes would he be taking?

If he's going to take anyone's minutes, it's going to be Dady's.

I doubt he’s taking anyone’s minutes, but maybe he’s more ready than expected. Not like we have more than 3-4 guys whose minutes should be basically guaranteed at this point. Either way it will be good experience for him with zero downside.

Can he make free throws? And touch rim?

Whoever’s minutes he is taking you are signaling to them it’s time to transfer, because if we’ve got guys who are considered replaceable to what equates to literally some dude off the street at this point in the season then it’s all broken.

It's not like the bench is tearing it up right now anyway. Bring him in, let him practice with the first team, if he outplays Dady, Frazier, and Polite and gets on the floor fine with me...otherwise it's like a free red-shirt year for him.

I mean don’t get me wrong, there’s no downside to it whatsoever, I’m just saying that if we are halfway through conference play and some dude walks off the street and starts getting minutes without knowing anything about our offense/defense then there’s problems and some dudes on our roster should start asking themselves some hard questions about if they should be playing at this level. Then again we don’t have much of an offense or defense to learn so maybe he’ll slide right in.

If a freshman who no one else recruited, reclassing and coming in a year early, comes in on the back end of conference season, and he sees meaningful minutes on a top heavy roster, we have bigger problems then we all think.
Is this kid crazy coming to this dumpster fire?

I’ll just assume he has, exactly, zero other options.
Maybe he wants to get in on the action as a D1 basketball player while he can. He can see the writing on the wall. Paulsen will be fired shortly. No guarantee the new coach will retain his scholarship.

All he has to do is watch the games and he can probably see what we need. Or read these boards. As a 17 year old basketball player you are going to think you can do anything. But as we have seen, the game is much faster at this level.

Did DP run this offense at Bucknell? I thought I'd seen the last of it since The Virus got kicked out, but apparently a lot of teams in College run this NBA style offense. Except Bonnies and Richmond and probably a few others. We certainly don't have the players Ur and Bonnies have yet they run something more beneficial to their players. Mason, been trying to stick a square peg in a round hole since 2011.
