Welcome Karmari Newman

Perfect fit for him. Close to home and Greg Kampe's teams fly up and down the court jacking 3s. Won't be surprised when Karmari becomes an absolute star there.

I thought he had the opportunity to be a star for Mason. He's a perfect off the ball guard. With Moore gone this year I really expected to see him have an increase in playing time. But like previous posters have said, Greene must be lightening it up or something.

Kier isn't a pure scorer like Newman, but Kier has proven his ability to handle the ball. So I'm guessing Greene slightly beat out Newman this year on the depth chart because of his ball handling skills.

Ugh.. im ready for a commitment

I will be quite happy if Brendan Adams decides all he needed was an unofficial visit and commits to Mason before taking his official visit to Georgia later this month.

Not counting on it, though. I think it's going to be a while before we get a commitment for the 2018 class.

Perhaps the anticipated increase in playing time isn't enough to satisfy what Newman was looking for this season.

With two guys in the same class apparently ahead of him at his position, and seemingly less need to play four-guard lineups, I highly doubt he was going to get heavy minutes.

Then again, I'm just assuming he left for more playing time. The university probably isn't going to tell us.

I can't remember exactly. Was Newman one of the players suspended last year. If so I wonder if either party used in their decision

I didn't remember him being suspended but the Detroit paper said he was. Also said he had a rough year on and off the court.

Certainly could have been a factor in his decision.

Yeah, that blurb was very hard on him. I didn't think he had a rough year on the court, much less off of it.

I do think he, Ian, and Troy were the 3 suspended at the beginning of the year? I may be misremembering that, but I think he and Troy were suspended at first and then the staff found out Ian was involved in whatever it was so their suspensions were staggered. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I think Oakland got a few games on ESPN2/U last season on Friday nights as well, so in 2018-19, we may see Newman on TV.

I don't know what the team will look like next year for Oakland. But they went to the NIT last year. I hope he does well, and maybe we meet him again!

Oakland built some notoriety in 2015-16 though Kay Felder who led the nation in scoring. He plays for the Cavs right now.

One last time- Newman being on fire when he hits a few threes in a row - oh the humanity!
