Miami was cleared in any wrongdoing.

What if Kier is fleeing in search of a more easy going coach?
John Feinstein's recent book reveals that Paulsen had Kier on the bench for a recent game against LaSalle because Kier was late for a lifting session.

Accountability is a dirty word these days. The last thing I want in a leader of young men is someone who looks the other way on the "little things". Because as we all should know, in life the little things count too. As a public school teacher, I fight this battle over accountability every day.
Are the guys buying in or should we try a new approach to get better results? He's been here 5 years and is barely above .500.
Kids fail to meet expectations all the time, does that mean we should lower the bar? Being on time and prepared for the task at hand is not a high bar. You hold kids accountable for their action or inaction and you keep it moving. You think we are raising a generation and spoiled entitled kids now, start lowering the bar and it will be much worse!
A Bobby Knight RIGID approach doesn't work in 2020.
Great leaders know when to be flexible.
horrible comparison JDK made. overlying point is players seem to much rather play for a Jay Wright (teaches NBA offense, players coach, allows flexibility, and is successful) than someone of Dave's current rigid, old school (some would say archaic), and downright boring basketball.Bobby Knight physically and verbally assaulted kids for years. Comparing him to Paulsen and holding his players to account is borderline criminal.

Yes I know comparing Jay Wright to Dave is comparing a Ferrari to a 1992 Toyota Camry with original tires, but he came to my mind because of a Podcast his former player Mikal Bridges was on yesterday.

no I don't think he would laugh it off as kids these days. I think the players respect him enough not to turn in late to things. I mean we had about 4 issues this year. Three Javon and 1 AJ that we know of with kids not doing what Paulsen wanted and how he wanted it, when he wanted it. Paulsen has every right to punish them, but a guy like Jay Wright doesn't seem to have those problems. I am not a Villanova guy so I am sure someone like @ephoops who is an expert on every team except when you ask about Paulsen's bad teams will chime in and tell me I am wrong.Style of play, being a so called players coach, expensive suits and nice hair is all good. I'd play for Jay Wright in a heart beat. But I bet Coach Wright doesn't let kids come late to practice or a film sessions and just laugh it off as " kids these days". I have tons of bones to pick with DP, everything from lack of recruiting success, offense that looks like shit most of the time and don't get me started on the one and only in-bounds play we use, but I like that developing responsible and accountable young men is one thing he does well.
18-23 year olds in every basketball program around the country are by and large the same, and they make by and large the same mistakes. If you don't think kids occasionally come late to things at places like Nova and Providence I don't know what to tell you. Coach L had to suspend several kids during his tenure here, does that automatically means kids didn't respect him? I don't think so.

We haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2011.
It's time to overlook certain things and take a looser approach to try to win because "winning the right way" isn't working.
