Someone mentioned early about academic (advising / planning) complications. Either way, I’m not sure why some of us are so ready to get rid of a capable 6-11, 265 center. There’s not going to be a lot of those available to us.

The guy was a major offensive liability and not a shot blocker. He also had brick hands we can find someone better!

I certainly would not mind having Gio back, but I also would not want us going into the season with the plan being for him to start at the 5 and play 30 mins/game.

He’s 3 inches shorter and 50 pounds lighter. I don’t think the two compare exactly, even if Kanga has the skills. Gio was a nice insurance policy against being bullied in the post.

To that end, I think Haynes and Ball still fit what the team needs too. We will see how it all plays out, but there’s lots of opportunity to be found here now.

Somehow, some way I think CTS will resign both Haynes and Ball. Both know the system and can help orient the newbees. Question is dollars. I dont know how Ball can market himself considering he has virtually not played. As far as Haynes lets see if the university can make him a package deal of some kind. not sure what the parameters are though.

I don’t know why all the hate on Gio. I thought he did a fine job as a backup in the A-10. His hands and range are not good, but I’m not mad at him coming in for 10-15 minutes a game and giving us some nice dunks. I don’t think he is the reason we didn’t win the A-10.

He also played pretty well earlier in the season while Haynes got his feet wet again (I don’t know if you guys remember how rusty Haynes was but he was looking like a bust early). He wasn’t a shot blocker, but he still altered shots just with his size.
