Moore is a very good rebounder for a guard, that said I saw on twitter that he is still recovering from his ankle sprain. I don't remember where I saw it, but that is at least a slight cause for concern.

Hopefully Abram has been in the gym this offseason putting on some muscle, and while he obviously isn't as tall as Shevon, Relvao does have some weight to throw around down there.
Omg the ankle is still bothering him

Why wouldn't we redshirt him? This was a rebuilding year anyway, and the kid probably weighs 170 pounds. Let him add some much needed muscle while learning the system and teammates in practice. His time will come.

I never thought this year should be viewed as a rebuilding year. And again I wasn't wrong, we had a shot at 3rd place for a period of time. Imagine if we didn't lose to SLU twice.

Also he is listed at 190. Regardless, I also think skill trumps size. He was/is the most gifted freshman we have. And I believe the best players play. and according to all account he is one of the best the team has.

He made a super late decision. It's not like he handed the staff many options. In theory they could have red-shirted Troy but by the time Wilson committed they had probably already told Troy he would be playing this year and didn't want to mess with him mentally. Now in retrospect I don't think you could f**k that kids head up any more than it already is but whatever.

Are we sure the redshirt decision was entirely basketball related?
I was thought the same thing. I think with Wilson it was always going to be a decision between going to prep school or red shirting his first year and working on his academics. Jalen has been great this season and I think his extra year helped him immensely. I just wish Paulsen had gotten to coach him longer. I don't think there is a doubt in anyone's mind that Wilson will be a better RF next year on the court than he would have been a true Freshmen this year and with Jalen gone we are gonna need major minutes from both Wilson and Mar.

Jalen is having an awesome year, yes I agree. So yes maybe the glory days are ahead of us. I also think jalen is having a great year because of Paulsen. Also when Jalen red shirted, he wasn't in the mix for minutes.

He was behind Copes, Arledge. It made sense for a roster stand point.

Everyone bashed you for implying you knew better than DP. Didn't you also bash the decision not to make Moore a captain?

I don't think I know more then Paulsen. I would never say I know more then him. I know his basketball knowledge is a thousand light years ahead of mine. But I would have made some different decisions along the way.

I stand by my original post, that I think Wilson should of had a chance to play this year. My philosophy is and always will be what can I do to win NOW. I don't believe in rebuilding years, I find it unfair to the seniors to have rebuilding years. I think AJ's skillset would have been beneficial in the GW game, and the SLU games.

Yah I thought Moore should of been a Captain, in every press conference Paulsen says Moore is a leader.

Being named Captain is an honor, and I still feel like Moore deserves to have that honor. But yes you are correct his performance was not affected.

I thought the purpose of a forum is to express your opinion. I understand people will disagree with my opinions and I am fine with that, but its frankly bush league to be rude about it. There was a period of time I felt the need to prove I am a fan. Like are you serious...

Yeah everyone does express opinions and talk here, but when you're opinion is that much different and then you call people homers and beat dead horses like why doesn't Abram play or that you feel the cost of a game is too high and whine about it, you become more of a troll than adding to discussion.

Wow, I still stand by everything I said including calling you a homer.

You fail to look at things objectively. And that is exactly what a homer is. Sorry if I am mistaken, but are you the person who will only wear Adidas gear because that's what the team wears... Kinda a near sided view.

And the cost of the game is too high. On average this season the stadium is 57% empty. hmmm....Maybe something needs to change.

LOL

This might be the post of the year in terms of stupidity. Congratulations.

If Abram starts and plays 25 minutes a game this year, the discussion about whether to redshirt Wilson or not changes. It seems like Paulsen at least gave him a chance at the start of the season

People who knew what was really going on with AJ's situation didn't post about it on a message board -- mostly because it's not right to be airing a kid's private business like that.

I'm 100 percent sure he would have rather played this season than practiced and lifted weights without being able to dress for games.

BUT...

This redshirt year ultimately will help AJ succeed on and off the court. In the big picture that's a great thing.

Redshirting AJ was the best decision for all involved at the time it was made, and I still think it was a good decision. His overall contribution to the program will be greater because of it.

Everyone's gonna be super thankful in four years that he's still on the court. As we've seen this year, it's hard to put the load on two seniors and expect consistent success. Red shirting AJ balances the recruiting classes and will leave us with three guys (him, Mar, and Green.)

Maybe if we have him this year we snag that second SLU game but in the grand scheme it bumps us from a 7 to a 6 in the A10 tourney, and we still likely get bounced by a top three team in the quarters or semis. Not worth burning a year of his elegibilty in my opinion. This was never gonna be a year of epic results and sitting him was the right play. My only wish was that Marquise had redshirted and was coming back next year.
