I am also not quite sure why people are calling him a 4 star either... last I checked he was a low 3.

They were saying that after his redshirt year, it will be the equivalent of bringing in a 4 star guy since he will have a year to improve in practice and the weight room.

Has anyone actually confirmed that Wilson is going to redshirt or is that all still pure message board conjecture?

He would help the team this season, and next season he would have hit the weights as well and be improved next season.

I checked out his twitter, I know stalker move. Anyway he re-tweeted a post about him redshirting, so I would assume so.

Personally I don't buy that but if that makes people more confident in Mason bball I am all for it.

Help the team do what? Having him on the court isn't going to make or break this season. It isn't hurting anyone. This redshirt year allows him to focus on getting ahead with classes (all of the other freshman took summer classes) and let's him focus on improving, not playing. The balancing out of the recruiting classes can't be overlooked here either. This is a good move for AJ and a good move for the programs future.

Jalen was in the same position when he came here, 6'7 and light. He was a top 100 and decided to redshirt. Didn't he pack on like 40lbs and was first team all rookie. The virus tried to make him a 3 and set him back a little but he should have a great senior year.

Just a strong believer in the best man plays. And according to all the reports he is the best recruit we have. So I am shocked it is him redshirting and not someone else.

This.

I can't wait to see what a coach like Paulsen does to develop a kid like this. Gonna be a big difference between he and Jalen I'd suspect.

If the young man and the staff were all in line with the playing status prior to announcing then why is everyone so concerned. Maybe DP knows why he is doing what he is doing. Ya think?

So happy we don't have any of this landing recruits because in the NBA you'll play this position bullshit anymore.

At least Larranaga would make you be a junior before letting Birdsong play the three and Urbina gun threes and stupid shit like that.

Paulsen is the shit. Wilson is the shit. Death to America!!!

I agree that Moore, Livingston, Grayer, and Jenkins are locks. If you want the five best players, Abrams starts. However, that team would get outrebounded horribly unless the guards crashed the defensive boards, which would result in a reduction of fast break points. The returning big men, Dixon and Relvao, do not inspire confidence. Therefore, we may need to rely on an unproven freshman big, like Troy Temara.

But maybe we play small and scrappy and deny entry passes to our opponents' big men. Maybe Livingston, Grayer, Abrams, and Murrell can rain threes. Maybe Ian Boyd or Karmari Newman emerges as an impact player, like Livingston and Grayer did last year.

Based on the maybes, while we will be better than last year, we still could continue to struggle in A-10 play. After all, we no longer have a 7 footer that demanded triple-teams...

I don't think we had any fast breaks last year. So perhaps with the physical size of Ian Boyd he maybe asked to crash the boards. I don't expect any fast breaks under DP. Ever.

Moore is a very good rebounder for a guard, that said I saw on twitter that he is still recovering from his ankle sprain. I don't remember where I saw it, but that is at least a slight cause for concern.

Hopefully Abram has been in the gym this offseason putting on some muscle, and while he obviously isn't as tall as Shevon, Relvao does have some weight to throw around down there.
