Can you imagine going through life like this? Like, what must it be like to wake up in the morning, and have to be this guy, all day long?

I would probably kill myself. Not that I'm suggesting Mason lawyer should do that or anything ...

If you mean can other coaches from other schools contact potential transfers, the answer is no. The player has to get written permission for other schools' coaches to discuss transfer opportunities with them. The written permission is granted by the athletic director from the current school and is granted or denied specific to each individual school that the athlete wants to potentially transfer to. So in essence, the athlete has to have a school in mind and get permission before having any contact with that coach/school.

I meant do coaches talk their own players into leaving? I find it a little too serendipitous that all 3 decided to transfer.

I don't believe that every kid will want to transfer even if they are on the bench. Because, if that were true, wouldn't all the kids on the bench at P5 schools leave? They're certainly good to play somewhere else.

Most P5 schools have 4 or 5 walk ons or players that don't expect to ever play, much more than a mid major would have.

Paulsen probably told the three players that he doesn't expect them to get much playing time at all and he thinks they can be successful in a different conference, but he didn't push them to transfer. Players want to play and get the opportunity to succeed on the court.

List of announced transfers here: http://www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2017

A couple of players from major programs that were pretty highly ranked in HS but haven't panned out well in college moving on.

Nigel Johnson is an interesting name. He's a former All-Met who originally committed to GW then backed out, went to K-State for 2 years, then transferred to Rutgers to be closer to home and played one season where he averaged 11.3 points per game.

I'm sure all Coaches have different tact in this regard. I've read plenty of quotes from coaches where they had frank conversations with players advising them they will likely not be getting any PT in the upcoming season - all but expressly telling them they should transfer. I think most probably handle it this way, in the long run best for the kid to get the info and affirm what they may have thought or clue them in to something they were missing.

Some coaches will tell players they should transfer, the biggest assholes will actually pull (not renew) the scholarship. Often times players in these situations (ie - future expected non-contributors) will be given extremely short leashes and you will see them kicked off team for things that other kids may be given a second chance over.

I really wish there as a way to keep trolls of various boards. I seriously doubt the idiots dissing the transferring players are really Mason fans; same a the above postactually being Dixon's mom.

Trolls, please go elsewhere. (And I realize I'm just feeding the trolls here, but I couldn't help myself.)

Shame on you!

Dixon, Murrell and Abram made a tough decision to find playing time elsewhere and continue their growth as a basketball player. It's a respectable decision that any players would have made out of passion for professional basketball career.

Opinions of the few on here don't represent the entire community.

Sure I'll bite ...

Why shame on me? If you actually read the boards, you would have seen there are only a couple of posters that are saying stupid stuff about the transferring students/players. Most of us have wished them well in their futures where ever they land, AND I called the stupid posters idiots which indicates I disagree with their sentiment.

So you are a troll, not Dixon's mom, looking to start a fight. For whatever reason, I decided to respond. But I'm done; I've had my fix.
