News Tracking Official Adidas / Other Gear

I've always wondered what's the NCAA rules on selling or auctioning memorabilia to make money for the school. We've had number auctions in the past. Is auctioning legal but selling not? I would imagine as long as players aren't being exploited, items can are allowed to be auctioned.

Like can we just get Darrell Green so sign a million Redskins items and auction them off all the time?

I don't think there is anything stopping DP/BE/DG from signing things and just taking the money themselves, then they in turn donate that money to the athletic department. I don't believe the players can sign stuff to sell. But then again, I want to say there was a raffle for a signed ball by the team a while back. Or they could "donate" a signed ball to the "Vurbel Foundation", and in turn they will "just so happen" to receive a check. Completely unrelated, of course. ;)

But again, this is a drop in the bucket compared to getting naming rights to a field.

I've always wondered why there aren't more (any) items up for auction/sale. What happened to the thousands of Patriot Center chairs that were replaced (other than the two in my basement)? How much would people on here pay for those? Game worn jersey's, shoes, etc.? Hell, the nationals sell line up cards and my wife and I bought one for a pretty penny because it was from our first date.

We can definitely do these types of auctions, only issue may be with player autographs.

I want to buy one of those balls!

But since Mason Adidas anything is harder to find than Big Foot, my goal is to steal one.

I've been bombarding adidas with emails about gear since last year, but they've just told me to wait until this fall.

The bookstore has responded and said adidas gear will be available come October/Late Fall.

Adidas is backed up on orders so they've been slow on turning out gear for non-priority schools (ie non Power Fives) so who knows when we'll really get three striped fan gear. I mean we didn't get adidas basketballs until this year and the deal was signed last year lol

What is their email address so the rest of us can let them know, too?

I was told they were never replaced. Just the piece of back part that said Patriot Center was replace with the EBA logo. They are the same chairs, just re-upholstered.

Great idea, though!

Looking at the emails from the Barnes & Noble people, the Adidas hasn't given them any updates on "new pieces", but they "expect to [have] everything in place by October" (as of June 2016).

If there isn't anything by October, we should def start complaining. I mean the demand is there, fans want gear.

I don't understand the adidas thinking. They should be putting their gear in front of Mason fans at every opportunity. They should have a table in the Gold Room selling stuff. They should have Mason gear on Eastbay (vcu and Richmond is on there, and the only Mason thing is some Nike shorts from Larranaga's last season). I went on the GMU bookstore site and looked under "men's apparel." There wasn't anything adidas until page 6. There was plenty of Nike, UA, and Champion stuff. If I were them I would be in contact with the bookstore and made sure they only had adidas gear. I guess adidas doesn't want my money. It's not like with the exception of game gear I can't get everything from everybody else.

End rant. :bricks:

Adidas has never been a particularly impressive supplier. I've heard of them doing stuff like this all the time. And they don't design the best stuff. School colors, three stripes down the side and that's it. Nike has some ugly stuff now and again but I like that they take risks and either get it really right or really wrong.

I would say Nike has messed up some college football jerseys (West Virginia, Rutgers, San Jose St.) but they haven't really messed up any college basketball jerseys. Even UA is better than adidas. Maybe we can switch to them once this deal is over in 4 years.

I don't know what brand is sold, but isn't there a Mason merchandise booth on the concourse at every basketball game?

Ended up being around campus and stopped into the bookstore. Really nice selection of mason stuff compared to what they used to have.

As far as Adidas stuff, they had a small rack that had basic shirts, "mason basketball" and other sports with mason in front. They looked simple and sharp. Same usual brands still around but much more selection. I suspect they'll get more adidas stuff as time goes on, but wanted to share that they had a few things.

I was told the same thing from someone in the athletic department. I was looking to buy a couple for my sports room when they were making the conversion from PC to EBA.

Anyone know how to a Mason official baseball team fitted cap with the GM?

Bookstore has tons. Lid's has a sale on them right now; $10-$15 for snapbacks, but if you want fitted or adjustable the bookstore is the way to go. They're like $20-24.
