Who says you have to use all colors on a uni? ND doesn't use blue or gold on the below uni.

Nike seems to be renewing with their major schools like Duke, while UA and adidas are racking up mid-majors (Davidson, Delaware, UNCW, ODU, etc.) Basically, schools that need cash the most, cause adidas has to pay $ for athletes to wear their inferior (or perceived) products.

Do basketball players have to wear the shoes of the team sponsor? I know in soccer the cleats are up to the player. Seems like whatever makes the player more comfortable would be better but I know Shevon blacked out the swoosh in a few games.

Adidas also has UCLA, Miami, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Louisville, Texas A&M, NC State, and Nebaska...which is not a bad haul on their part.

Most of the complaints seem to be about design more than quality. Indiana's throwback style unis are pretty awesome, though.

When I said "racking up" I meant that's what they seem to be adding. Same with UA. True, there are major programs with adidas, so it's not like it's all mid-majors. But take Michigan off the list, they are going to Jordan next year. They will be the first Jordan football team.

Indiana has throwbacks? I thought their regular jersey was a throwback. I know Wisconsin (who is leaving adidas this year for UA) had a throwback, that basically looked exactly like Indiana unis.

I *believe* they can wear whatever they want, but if they wear a non-sponsored shoe company (in Shevon's case Nike) they have to cover up all identifying logos. I have the same shoes as one Shevon's earlier in the year, and he covered the Nike swooshes and the Lebron logos on the shoe. Basically, unless up close, it was just a green shoe when he was done.

Just read ESPN's long story of how Curry ended up with Under Armour. Seems Kent Bazemore was a big reason he made the jump. This blurb was frustrating:

"That has something to do with why Bazemore's alma mater, Old Dominion, is now an Under Armour school. "We just signed Old Dominion, so that was kind of a giveback to Kent, so he's happy about that," Stone says. Under Armour paid nearly seven times what Nike was paying the school annually before. In turn, Bazemore has poured his resources into ODU, building a new practice facility and submitting the largest donation by an athlete in school history. Bazemore gets his name on a building and the "UA" symbol is emblazoned on jerseys in Norfolk, Virginia, because an athlete in Oakland, with no visible connection to the university, signed with Under Armour."

Wasn't Kent Bazemore the one arrested right before an ODU game?

Wasn't Kent Bazemore the one arrested right before an ODU game?

It was one of the minor league postseason tournaments.

He was in uniform and getting ready to play when Va Beach police arrested him and led him off the floor at the Ted.

Guess giving the school millions of dollars erased the memory of that embarrassment.

Maybe when Patrick Holloway becomes the next Steph Curry in the NBA he will get a highly lucrative shoe deal and we can rename the EBA the PHA.:D

Adidas announced 2nd qtr #s today. Per Darren Rovell:
US sales up 32% over 2nd qtr last year
Originals (Stan Smith, Superstar) up 60% in US compared to last year

Must be all that branded Mason gear moving the needle....

I would still be interested to know what Under Armour offered us. I know Nike didn't really do anything.

I wish it was Under Armour! Adidas blows. There is hardly, if not any Adidas Gear available to purchase and if it does, it's ugly. Along with UA being a much better product, Under Armour would have made Mason apparel more accessible to the public to purchase, i.e. more places other than just the Mason Bookstore.

We have 4 years left on the 5 year minimum contract. Hopefully by 2020, our MBB team will be relevant again we can get better offers. I feel pretty confident we will. We've seen some major improvements this past year in all sports.

I tried to sound nice about it, but adidas is weak. It all comes down to recruiting to me. A 16 year old would rather wear UA than adidas. I know, we don't want a recruit based on that, yada yada yada, but Michigan, Tennessee, and Wisconsin just left adidas largely in part for that very reason. Last I checked they were a little higher on the totem pole than us.
