Well, now that you mention it. I do hate that South Carolina uses just "Carolina." Which Carolina is that? North or South? The casual fan probably doesn't know. And, yes, 'Cuse is stupid. Of course, if your official name was VPI&SU you would shorten it.

We got over $100M in free publicity ten years ago and we were "George Mason" and we wore green. Well, some dumbasses decided we would start wearing yellow or black and drop the "George." A smart move would have been to build on the foundation, not to then try to re-brand.

But we also got confused with George Washington and James Madison all the time, too, not to mention another more prestigious George University in the area.

I think it's a smart move going to Mason.

Let's also not compare shortening the name of a state like North Carolina to shortening a person's name. In fact, athletes are often referred to by their last name.

If our namesake played basketball, I'm sure his coach would constantly call him "Mason," as in: "Damn it, Mason, how many times have I told you not to wear the road green nickers for home games?!"

Considering what we know about George Mason (short, stocky and gave credit to the Bill of Rights to someone else), it is obvious he would be a pass first point guard.

We've been trying to market as "Mason" for many years. our website has been GoMason.com for some time. Men's hoops was the last sport to use "George" on uniforms.

Totally useless fact: Marko and PH will be the first players in George Mason history to wear white, black, green, yellow, and gray jerseys during their career. I just have way too much useless knowledge in my head. :bricks:

On a different note, I saw the women's soccer uni's (great win over GW in the quarter finals today)- not a fan. black tops and shorts with green numbers/letters and white trim. on the back, there is small shooting star above the numbers and the A10 logo above the shooting star. green socks. ouch. there are so many good looking soccer "kits" out there and we have to look like the early 2000s?!? I hate black uni's for any of our teams, but if they must wear black, do it correctly- use white or gold/yellow letters/#s. Green on black just sucks and stacking logos on the back makes it even worse.

I have a feeling of we ever take a vote on favorite shows, Project Runway might win in a landside.

The new unis have been critiqued so much they've turned shy.
